Cheers Martin -

Thanks for not chopping a VW !!!

New or rebuilt engines can be had from several places, as Wayne stated in the previous post. If you want 100% brand new, and no recon parts, it will probably have to be a 1600 or larger unit as some of the components for the smaller engines haven't been made new for some years now. However nearly everybody wants a bigger engine so 1600 parts are still in very good supply, brand new cranks, cases, heads and all the other bits are still being made brand new, most come from South America or the States.

Have a search on the Net for VW Heritage and VW Speedshop. They have new / rebuilt engines, stock and performance units. You could also buy all the bits seperatley and put together your own spec motor.

I built a trike a few years ago - except it had the single wheel at the back and a CX500 engine sticking out the front - It was a JZR. Excellent fun, great blast to throw round the twisty country lanes !

Good luck with the Trike !
