Don't drive it with the oil light on, it's warning you that something is wrong, not necessarily a major fault, but if it is, you'll ruin it by driving.
The engine should have 2 oil pressure switches, the oil warning light will come on if there's an imbalance between the signal from both switches. First, check if a wire has come off one of the switches, then check (by removing each wire in turn), to see if one of the switches is faulty. If it's not just one of those, it could be low oil pressure due to a blocked oil filter, Change it (get the correct VW one), and check again, if the warning light still stays on, get it checked professionally.
