Hi I worked for a Vw Dealership when the Ecomatic first came out and run one as a company car for about a year, if you have an eletrical problem that is to do with the running of the vehicle I would suggest that you take it to a VW Dealer as it is so specialised & needs special test equipment that it is highly unlikely you will find anyone else who has the knowledge as when the engine turns itself off all sorts of relays pumps etc cut in, although I have a reasonable amount of technical knowledge, I read through the VW publications at the time & it was not a car for the faint hearted or after it's warranty to run without repair insurance. having said that I loved the car once you got used to it but you need to adapt your driving style as it has it's own foibles.
