As your e-mail seems to be one of the few that mention Sciroccos, I thought you might be able to help me. I have bought an Avante, a VW based 1980's kit car. The 'spare' engine that came with it (it has an Alfa-Romeo engine fitted at present) is, I'm told by the guy I bought it from, a Scirocco engine. How do I tell whether it is a standard VW Beetle engine or the more powerful Scirocco engine? It has what looks like an oil cooler mounted on the top but are there any other external definitive features that will confirm which type of engine it is please?
