My wife's father bought a 2 door Mars Red 1100cc Golf (with double headlights, wide steel wheels and go-faster stripe) new in 1982. Three years later it was handed down to my wife. She ran it until approx 7 years ago. Since that time it has lived in her dad's garage and 'come out' on only a couple of occasions when we needed a 'replacement car'.

It's had drivers side front wing replaced and needs passenger side doing. It's got s/s exhaust and Webber carb. Apart from this everything is original. Inside it's like new. Apart from wing, body is excellent (it was wax-oyled several times) It's done about 82k miles. Was serviced by same mechanic from 1983 to 2000 (when we put it back on road for a couple of months). Serviced and MOT'ed again in late 2001 and put on road for a few weeks.

We'd planned to keep it and use it as a 'second car' when one of us retired. But the regular running of it is getting a bit too much and now we are thinking about passing it on to someone whe will love and cherish it as we have.

Is there anyone out there interested in buying it?

We have been thinking about this for a couple of years but could not bring ourselves to part with it. But I have just come across your web site and note you are a 'local' club (we are near Blackburn) and am contacting you on the spur of the moment - with my wife's approval.
