I have a 1997 Cabrio which I purchased in May 2004. it has 77,000 miles and the transmission has been slipping (feels like it is in neutral when it is in drive). I was told by vw that I needed a new transmission cost 4500.00. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I was also told by someone that VW knew these cabrios (1993-1998) had bad transmissions, and that vw should have done a recall on them.
