Make sure the oil level is OK, check egnine turns by hand OK. Check carb is clean and not furred up inside from standing around, clean & blow through with compressed air if nesacary.

Fit engine, conect everything except igintion feed (black wire to coil from wiring harness)Tape it up so it can't short out. Spin engine on starter till oil llight goes out. (so you know you have good oil pressure.)

Connect ignition feed wire, start engine. If it dosen't start then probably no fuel in carb, so clear air lock in fuel pipe, fill carb and try again. Set timing & carb as per haynes manual, run engine till hot then drop oil, clean the strainer, fill with new oil. (use a cheap 10/40 multigrade)

Remember it's not fully run in yet so do another 200 miles, change oil again (use a decent 10/40 branded oil this time), reset valve clearances, timing, carb and then you're done, go back to 3000 miles between services & oil changes.

Cheers - Dave.
