I feel really guilty now, I hated those family get-togethers where everyone ate and drank too much and then all started singing and what-have-you, especially the New Year one at our house. When I was young I was forever being asked to sing, which I also hated as I have never liked singing in public on my own, and then as I got older and Mam & Dad's parties got a bit wilder(nothing untoward happened, they were just noisier and busier) I used to groan inwardly and wonder how I could escape. Someone would grab you and try and dance, which was always difficult as I have 2 left feet (as did Dad) and all Mam's sisters could dance well and I would try and sneak off and barricade myself in my bedroom, which at least was over the kitchen rather than the sitting room. I must be a bit of a party-pooper, but I'm a lark rather than an owl, and was always ready for my bed about 10.00. Mind, when I was at school I was up by 6.15, breakfasted, pot of tea made for Mam & Dad, a shout upstairs goodbye and away for the bus be 7.10 as it left at 7.15 to catch another bus at 8.00 in Staines for a 40 minute bus ride so spent well over an hour on the bus every morning and evening. I haven't forgotten about the photo of the WeeYin, I shall go upstairs after lunch and dig it out and see if I can scan it and post it on the Bar.
