Register for free with the Telephone Preference Service then if you still get the calls tell the caller you are registered and that they are breaking the law, and ask how they got your number. They will hang up and won't call again. I've done it and it works.

Still, wasting the time of unwanted callers has a satisfaction in itself. Keep them talking with bewildered befuddlement and imagine their call charges mounting up. One of my son's pals keeps them on hold for ages while he goes and makes a cuppa tea under the pretence of switching on his computer to deal with the "problem". Twenty minutes is the record.
