Yes Dave ,there was that side to him and his family. You never could believe anything one hundred percent. There was always the belief that everything was about the publicity. But I think that was down to the world they lived in,they don't know our world. But I don't think you can deny his talent.

I remember seeing him in the sixties and it was evident early on that he was talented.Back in 1970 when The Jackson Five released ...I'll be there ..my ex wife and I had it as "our song" she liked it more than I did,I liked it more for the way he sang the song than for the words of the song.

And then in the eighties when he came back as a solo artist my kids were big fans of his. I remember their astonishment when we said that we had listened to him in the sixties. They couldn't quite understand how they could be listening to some one that their parents had liked.

And after that it all seemed to go downhill. The one thing he did after that that was smart was to purchase the Beatles catalogue, much to the displeasure of Paul McCartney.Their friendship was never the same after that.

But I do understand your comments, but I believe credit should be given where credit is due ,and I view Elton John much the same way as a person I don't have much time for him as I don't think he lives in the real world. But as a talent ...he cant be denied and I am a fan of his music.

When I heard that Michael Jackson was going to do the concerts in London ,somehow I never thought they would happen.I didn't think he would die,it was just that people like him are uncontrollable and unpredictable and only a few weeks ago the first four were moved back and there were stories in the media about lawsuits by someone in the States who had exclusive rights to any concerts and I thought then that it was all for publicity.

So here we are ...we will never know Its best just to remember him as he was in the sixties and early eighties.
