Glad you had a good time. It's cold enough here so I'm glad I'm not where you are. Silly though how things just grind to a halt when there's snow in Britain. Catches us out every year, and then the authorities say oh we don't get enough snow to warrant all the money we would need to spend on equipment. I wouldn't think the companies that lose millions at this time of year would agree.

Can any of you remember the schools being closed if it was snowing? If the bus couldn't get through my mother and I walked to school through Windsor Great Park so as not to try and walk on narrow roads with no pavements and no lighting and cars coming down the hill behind you. Must have been a good 4 miles. I know it took us over an hour to do it, with newspapers tucked up inside our coats to keep out the cold, and scarves wrapped around our necks and faces, and hats and gloves, must have looked like little snowmen by the time we got to school, and we were certainly glowing with the warmth of our exertions and all the extra padding. We'd then do the same to get home. Could be magical walking up through the park in the gloom with all the snow about. Tired when we got home though. Our coats would go over the airer above the fire, and our boots would be left on newspaper in the kitchen to dry out, and then have a thick coating of polish put on them for the next day, and leave the polish on.
