Ani... I was just watching the ABC news on the TV and they were interviewing this expert on aging and he said that by 2050 the amount of people in Oz with our low population reaching 100 will be about 50,000 plus, now he said the breakdown on the condition of people at present who are 100 is that one third, their memory is fine and they can still get around, another third are ratshit, memory and everything else had it, and another third are what we Scots would call "dooly Wally" which is memory loss to a lesser degree, they are working on ways of slowing down the loss of memory but not a cure.. There was an item on the TV last week about promising results using a drug which is used for some other condition... Ani If we can keep our sanity long enough, there might just be some hope of getting through life with the mind still intact but all the rest of our body creaking and groaning at every movement, and if your Willy drops off at 70, shit that's 30 years willyless... No, I think I would prefer to go out with a bang, out running in the bush amongst the parrots and nature...One last thing, I will never know whether taking vitamins for 45 years has been of any advantage but when I was running professional and racing, everyone was taking them and you could not take the chance that you might be disadvantaged by not taking them, and there is the placebo effect that is if you think they will do you good, then they will.. Folic acid and B12 are on a trial at present on holding Alzheimers at bay for longer.. So I take the chance that they just might be right..
Just like climate change, there are believers and climate skeptics, but hell, what if they are correct, we have nothing to loose by taking action against our carbon based polluting economy's and making the air water etc., cleaner for the next generations... went for my hour plus run this morning so that might be a factor in delaying the onset of the "Dooly Wally" hell knows, but it is worth a try, I have always used myself as a Guinea Pig ha ha .... Jack
