Dont remember a screw called woods unless he was on another wing of course i was in A wing
Only ones i remember are mcgregor he was ok if you didnt ruffle his feathers that little shit called bruce of course some twat called melville and another screw cant remember his name but his nickname was kung fu
when i was there about 5 young lads arrived and they were given complete kojak haircuts and he used to bully them punching them and calling them grasshopper dont know what happened to them they only seemed to be there for less than a week but have read glenochil was where ones sent to borstal were held until vacancies arose for them they probably got sent to polmont which was nearest to glenochil.
the new yoi hadnt opened by the time i left i think it opened either a few months later or the following year when the screws in dc were issued with uniforms.
do you remeber the bible classes on a sunday? i wasnt particularly interested only went to it to pass the time really but did all the question books and got certificates also got a gideon bible which i still have somewhere the certificates got chucked out years ago.
I remember one time an alarm went off and screws running down towards C wing think it was someone on suicide watch had tried to top themselves dont really know what happened but its the only logical explaination
do you remember having to sit in your room for an hour polishing your shoes and boots while the screws had a meal break and if i remember correctly you werent allowed to use your piss pot i used to pee in my cup and pour it out the window didnt have any choice really luckily it was hot weather and it dried in very quickly.
also remember bedtime was 830pm lights out 9pm but the light from a street lamp nearby shone straight into my room so was able to read my book for at least another 10 mins until it got really dark reckon about 915 or thereabouts
I used to wake up before the bell went off could hear the screws laughing and joking i used to clean my room and make my bedblock take my pjs off and put on my shorts so that i was ready when the screw opened the door think the screw was puzzled as to how i had done everything so quickly but he never queried it.
we used to have to line up to empty our piss pots before going to the ablutions for a wash and shave
