there is plenty of posts on here,with some good poignant memories and anecdotes, including my own. the main tattoos i saw were the ones where the hand would be covered following the outline of the top of your hand up to your knuckles and thumb,known as a borstal glove ,a broken line on the front of the neck with CUT HERE in the middle,stars on the ear lobes,swallows either side of the neck,love and hate on the fingers, acab i.e all coppers are bastards,tears on either eye what that stood for i dont know but im sure someone will know.the saddest tattoo i saw was on a lad from crewe when i was in foston hall 1979 a tattoo of an erect penis on his arm ,i shared a table with him a meal times and he was proud of it being a bit scared i used to laugh inside rather than to his face.
