tattoos were sometimes done using the crushed up lead of a pencil, although it went under the skin it did not stay long, although the shape of what you tattoed would still remain as a scar ,twinny from hattersley was in everthorpe with me,and he mananged to purloin a bottle of indian ink from education and we both tattoed our hands,i lived with it till 1994 when i had lazer treatment in a clinic in stoke on trent ,what a relief to get rid of them it made it very hard to get a job and the amount of funny looks you got,and comments wasnt worth keeping them and they looked shite as well, also pychologically it put you at a disadvantage because you would always be hiding your hand in your pocket, you would go to touch your face pick something up and stop and use your other hand, people would pick up on the body language, and it looked deciteful, proper bollocks havin tattoos on your hands and face.i know i have had them and havnt for the last 12 years ,forgot to mention the borstal spot which was on the cheek there is still a slight trace on mine ,but its funny when you talk to someone with one because you both know, although i knew a policeman who had a mark on his cheekbone and it helped him cause people thought he had been away, you could not tell it wasnt a borstal dot.i only know that because he nicked me,just goes to show you never can tell.pen ink didnot work as it reacted with the blood.
