Before I respond directly to the anonymously-posted remarks, I would like to thank the writers of these posts for proving to me something I have always suspected of the vast majority of students at Northwest Missouri State University: that they are apathetic, ignorant, uneducated, and do not care about a god damn thing. Of all the things contained in this site, you choose to piss and moan about the most insignificant and petty one (and quite badly, I might add). You could have attacked my political/social views or refuted the ideas I have tried to present; you could have contributed to a very constructive and perhaps enlightening discussion on a variety of topics. But no, you take “offense” at one, tiny, offhanded remark (that I did not even make, by the way) on a rather juvenile and childish section of this site (one which I had been planning on removing, but now it is proving to be quite entertaining).

So, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you for proving my point, simply by being who you are.

"First and foremost, I think the author of this website has done a good job at getting the idea across that he has a very negative outlook on music. (Can we say someone needs to go on seom happy pills for depression) Frankly I'm suprised he doesn't mention the Backdoor Boys, and N'Sync. (Apparently he's a fan!)"

I hardly have a negative view of music; quite to the contrary, my life virtually revolves around music. I do think negatively of music devoid of any meaning or substance, of music created for the sole reason of making a profit, and of music that does not even begin to mount an attempt at originality or thoughtfulness. It is ridiculous to assume that because I do not hold your favored kind of music in high regard I have a negative outlook on music, or that I am depressed. It simply means I have higher standards.

"Then again, it would be fitting for this dingleberry. Your bio says your 26, that means you've been in school lets see- WAY TOO LONG. So your obviously not that bright."

In my opinion there is no such thing as being in school “way too long.” Your attack on my intellectual ability is quite dubious given the quality of your post.

"To drive home this point lets take a look at what your studying- History? C'mon buddy, history's not that tough, it's not like it ever changes. Granted your in grad school, so can you really be that stupid?"

I think Jed responded to this one pretty well, and I have already commented on your opinion of my intellect.

"But lets get to the point of why I'm posting this message; In your music page you give your opinion about Prank Monkey, a local band here in Maryville. You have an opinion even though you've never heard them play? If one can have an opinion about something they have never experienced, then I think your mom is one sexy ass bitch and your dad is even better!"

If that is the point of this confused and mediocre ranting, then your point is moot. While it is true I have never heard Prank Monkey, I have not voiced my opinion of them anywhere in this site. Perhaps the next you attempt to argue a point, you might want to read all of the information against which you are trying to argue. It would surely make you look like less of a fool.

"Now, you may or may not have noticed that there is not much of a live music scene in this town depending on if you ever go to any bar other than Burny's, but these guys are trying to change that, and frankly they're one of the better bands that have come out of this area so far as I can remember. "

And I wish you all the luck in the world. If you can get people to your shows then more power to you. I will not be at any because I personally despise the sub-genre of music you play, regardless of whether I have heard your band. And I want to say I find it interesting that you are writing this post as some sort of band supporter, when it is all too transparent that you are a member of the band and trying to drum up support for yourself. Grow some balls already.

"Granted I'm not 26 so I havent been stuck in this miserable excuse for a town as long as you, but I would rather listen to these "posers" than Shenia Twain and Garth Brooks any day."

Again with the transparent posturing. At any rate, given such a choice I would have to agree with you, but then again that really is not saying too much about your band.

"Lesson for the grad student: Making history is a lot more difficult than learning it,"

Exactly how are you “making history?”

"and don't ASSume stuff about things you don't know about. It makes you look like an ASS to those who know better."

Actually, making assumptions is one of the basic components of intellectual activity; it is the following up on and verifying or discarding those assumptions is what keeps people out of trouble. The mantra “don’t assume stuff about things you don't know about” is the refuge of the willfully ignorant, and more fit on the Jerry Springer show than at a university.

"On the bright side, if the history thing doesn't work out for you, you can always be a music critic for a boy band magazine."

I can do that even if the “history thing” does work out.

Let us see… who was doing the “ASSuming” here? Given that your entire premise is moot, it certainly was not me. However, you did not follow your own maxim and did more than a little assuming yourself, and all of it based on no evidence whatsoever.

The only one who looks like an ass here is you. It is obvious you are not gifted in the ways of language or thought and your skills at argumentation are atrocious (did you never learn about the ad hominem fallacy?). You seem to have some sort of fixation on my age that I cannot figure out, and your comments about my intellectual ability are inane. You have done nothing but make yourself look like a complete fool. I hope you have enjoyed yourself.
