Subject: Top 10 Things I Like About Enterprise

10) Archer's line when the Suliban chick changed appearance after she kissed him--"That's never happened before." Hee!9)The "phase pistols" look sooo Buck Rogers!
8) The stairs up from the little shuttlecraft are suspended by good old-fashioned chain!
7) Everything is so cramped-looking--I like the submarine atmosphere.
6) Archer telling T'Pol he wanted to knock her on her ass! Woo-hoo!
5) Malcolm Reed's sexy English accent (he sounds so much like Julian Bashir!).
4) The casual clothes--like Hoshi's red tank top from the premiere. They look like something we would wear, which makes this whole show seem so much more believable.
3) In Fight or Flight, Trip wanting so badly to visit the alien ship while Hoshi wasn't thrilled at all. Everybody reacts differently to the unknown, and it was nice to see that acknowledged.
2) The whole premise of ForF, where the Enterprise is so outclassed and needs the help of the aliens to survive. It's nice to have a real sense of danger about the show. There's nothing ho-hum about it!
1) "Tell him to shut up!"
"SHUT UP!"

I hereby declare Hoshi as my favorite character, whining and all. I think that the characters who have obvious flaws and foibles are the characters with the most to gain over the course of a series. We get to see them grow and learn and become better people. I'll take that over the seemingly-perfect heroes every time.

[> My favorite is T'Pol. I don't think we have seen quite enough of Vulcan females and I can't wait to see more of her. I agree with you about Reed and Bashir's accents. I love them. I also love Marcus Cole on Babylon 5. He had the same accent and that combined with his looks just knocked me out. Here's hoping for a long and exciting mission for the newest (or is that the oldest?) Enterprise. -- T'Karen, 18:55:25 10/09/01 Tue

[> It's good to see you here, Laura! HTat *is* you, isn't it? Laura the Data Goddess? LOL! I am really liking Enterprise. I was predisposed to since I love Star Trek and I really like Scott Bakula. And as much as I liked TNG, it was so "sterile" -- I mean the Enterise was so CLEAN and bright and shining and big and everyone was brilliant and a genius and knew everything about everything. I like THIS Enterprise better. I find the characters very believable and accessible. They are NOT "perfect". They do NOT know everything. They get scared. I like that. -- MichelleB, 23:03:37 10/09/01 Tue

[> [> Yep, it's me! I'm glad you set up this board, Michelle. I was wanting to discuss the Big E, and it's really nice to have a place to go where I know somebody already! ;-) I love Scott Bakula, too (I was one of the six people who watched Mr. & Mrs. Smith religiously) so I am really enjoying E. -- Laura, 12:01:38 10/10/01 Wed

[> [> [> [> Person no. 4 right here. I loved that show. Scott B. and Maria Bello were terrific. This year the show Theives is similar but not as good. TPTB at Trek were very smart to cast Scott B. -- T'Karen (almost as mad at M&M Smith cancellation as I was when stupid ABC axed Cupid), 17:30:54 10/10/01 Wed

[> Just wanted to say "hi", Laura! We've missed you *so* much at Maeve's--drop by when you have the chance! :) -- AmandaW (who was actually going to give this show a try...just to find out that UPN isn't part of my cable line-up despite the fact that we get the Oxygen channel, Hallmark channel, WE, and many other unknown or obscure channels...go figure.), 11:56:54 10/10/01 Wed

[> [> Thanks, Amanda--it's nice to see you! Good luck in getting access to UPN--they now carry two of the shows I watch regularly (E and Buffy), so I hope they get better coverage nationwide soon! -- Laura, 12:04:06 10/10/01 Wed

[> [> Check your CBS station at really bad times, like 1 am Sunday night/Monday morning. My cable gets two CBS stations, one in Indianapolis and one in Terre Haute. The TH station carries Buffy and Roswell at that time period, I'm assuming TH doesn't have a UPN station close by and since CBS and UPN are owned by the same company they might have some sort of reciprocal agreement. I haven't seen any promos for Enterprise on that station yet, so I don't know if they are showing it or not. -- Jen, 01:55:33 10/11/01 Thu
