Day one final results:
Pygmy Robustus were in the lead in early running down Vicarage Hill & Church Lane, but the runners soon caught up to the short legged ones on Cliff Street, by the time they reached Cliff Road at least 20 were already eaten. During the second leg of the course at Church Lane the route continues north to Vicarage Hill, by that time there were over forty confirmed kills and when the final count was taken at Lavorrick Orchard (judging by partially gnawed left legs) the count is officially 53.
This is of course 2 less than last year but grand champion "Willie" had passed away in July.
Event organizers are hoping for an equally good turn out Saturday and Sunday, reports are that there are enough Pygmy Robustus to last the event and if need be alternate species will be used.
