Choose British Gas for your gas supply and benefit from reliability, efficiency and outstanding commitment to customer service that you can expect from an energy supplier you know and trust.

What you see is what you get. No hidden charges and great discounts, along with a warm, friendly and reliable service from the experts you can trust.

If your house is quite new, the gas meter and isolation valve will probably be outside in a meter box. Otherwise try looking under the stairs, below the kitchen sink or even in the garage - if you have one. Move the handle a quarter turn to shut the gas off and don't forget, if you do smell gas you must open doors and windows to ventilate the property. Never operate any electrical switches - either on or off. Extinguish any naked flames and phone the Transco emergency service on 0800 111 999.
It might be a good idea to print this page now, as you shouldn't turn your PC on to read this advice if there is a suspected gas leak.

That being said I don’t see what your bellyaching about you ninny! If you had paid your bill rather than squandering your money on cheep rum and pay per view American Professional Wrestling we would not be having this conversation. Just keep dropping the tokens in the meter and only call us if you smell gas.

Cheers,
British Gas
