(He paused in a nonchalont manner, almost arrogant as he addressed her finally, his tone even and his expression flatly annoyed.) You're one of my best friends, Haylie, which is why I allow you the liberty to talk to me in the manner you do without repercussions. I am warning you though, I don't appreciate it when we are in the middle of a briefing. I am a pretty casual Commanding Officer, and I will take it as it is when we're in my office, but I will be damned if you will make me look like a fool in front of the rest of the team. (He hadn't moved through the entire oration, but when he finished, he sat up in his chair and moved forward to lean his arms on the oversized oak desk, gesturing to the chair in front of him.) Take a seat, please. (He said and then crossed his hands on the desk and regarded her with work weary eyes.) Now, that being said, Haylie.. I really do value your input and I agree with you that we are not on our best form.. but I think considering the position that we are in, we have no choice but to play with the hand we've been dealt. If this were another agent that needed help in the field, I would be sending a different team.. but since this is Gia and I know that I can't keep Skeeter off the case, I think we all need to be involved to save a friend. (He ran a hand back through his shaggy hair, for a moment letting his arrogance and annoyance slide and looking at her as a friend would.) I am damn sorry to pull you off of leave and for pushing you to get back out in the field, Haylie.. but to be honest I think if you wait two more weeks to get back in the saddle.. that day might never come for you. (He saw the fear in her, the turmoil, and he knew what she was going through.) I remember the first time I got shot in the field and almost died.. I know what it is like to wonder if you can make it out there.. my advice to you is not to wait. Most of the agents who wait, dont get back out there again - you're too good for that to happen.
