Welcome to the Melville Millionaires Forum!

http://www.melvillemillionaires.com

Way To Go -- Poirier, 09:07:28 12/11/02 Wed [1]

I see mils4life is back on the Mills side now that DP is back. Keep up the good hard play and take the big W for both games on the weekend. I guess maybe the players have decided to play some hockey. Steve is not the lucky one the city of Melville is lucky to have a coach as good as Mr. Young. The board must think he is good to have him coach for 7 years. Keep up the hard work boys and show the coaching staff and the city of Melville that you can win.

Great job, guys -- Hextall, 01:52:55 12/15/02 Sun [1]

Wow! what a great weekend! Getting seven of the last ten possible points is great. Obviously the work ethic is back! Let's hope this confidence builder carries on for the next two. You guys know you can do it, now go and do it!! Take it to Weyburn and Notre Dame!!!

All the best to the team in the holidays and give Yorkton a real good Christmas present!!

to forum observers -- webmaster, 12:57:35 12/15/02 Sun [1]

The rules that this forum follows are the same as for the SJHL Hot Stove:
POSTINGS TO THIS FORUM ARE ALLOWED ON THE CONDITION THAT ALL COMMENTS BE MONITORED AND THAT COMMENTS OF A DEROGRATORY NATURE OR THAT PERSONALLY ATTACK ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. YOUR CO-OPERATION IN THIS RESPECT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

What this means is that this forum is not to be used to slam or inflame any one person. It is not any one person's personal propoganda tool or fan club. There is enough negativity about the team out there already without having it spread here.

Recently there have been submissions of a derogatory and even threatening nature. Anything of this nature gets deleted immediately, and will continue to be done as such.

We do apologize in the delay in updating the web page. The reason behind this is due to the local hosting company (SPREDA - www.spreda.sk.ca) changed servers. All stats and pics will be updated shortly.

Great win against the hounds boys. Its amazing how few the comments are on here now that the mils are getting some points on the board. Keep up the effort guys and you'll see positive results against the red wings as well. Have a great Christmas and be prepared for the coming New Year.

Obviously the old senario of work hard; skate hard; and be agreessive worked especially on the large ice surface. With this kind of performance, hopefully we don't forget this between all the Christmas cheer, there is no doubt that the boys will win in the home stretch. The boys can do cause this old fart knows.....Merry Christmas...HOHOHOHOHO.

Keep working Mills -- Bill, 09:28:00 12/27/02 Fri [1]

It is with interest that I read the comments posted on the forum. After having the opportunity to watch the Mills training camp let me say I was very impressed with Steve and his coaching staff. The players in camp worked extremely hard and got off to a fantastic start in the preaseason. Unfortunately the Mills have struggled at times during the regular season. I will say however, that true hockey fans never give up on the team until the very end. I believe that any team can win on any given night and that holds tru for Melville. Good luck the rest of the way and keep up the hard work.

that were at the Macs were Ryan Kienas & Derek Wilhelm (Tisdale) & Nate Wilson & Alvin Musqua Jr. (Swift Current)
Lots of BC Jr. Scouts there - Didn't see any Mils jackets?

Good luck on the road Tuesday and Wednesday boys!!

Wilson -- Angrier fan, 11:01:54 01/07/03 Tue [1]

Dan Wilson is a great hockey player if you look at his skills and playing talent. He has great penalty kill skills and is strong both defensively and offensively. He will go up against any other player in teh SJ and not back down. He is not afraid to use his body and play aggresively. Listening around the rinks you will hear his name a lot from many fans as one of their favourite players to watch. Whoever thinks he is not having a good season should maybe watch a game of Mils hockey and think about that again.

The Money Men spanked N.B. last night in every area of the game. Hacke destroyed his victim in that one sided battle. I have never seen a group of young men so scared as I did last night. The No stars peed their pants every time PARKER was on the ice. Lots of chirping from the stars but no action at all. PARKER even two handed their goalie with little reaction from the weak Stars. This team could go very far with this type of play! OLD TIME HOCKEY IS BACK IN MELVILLE!!!!

Four Mils made the Star choice:Ashley Todd, Dusty Hunter, Shawn Langan, Smely. Congratulations Boys.
Watched both games on the far western tour. Was very impressed with the effort and energy at Battleford; at Kindersley it was not the same team defensively, we just did not have the jump or the defence in the first period. We did put up a better effort in the second and third period.
If you think you can't, your won't. If you think you can, you will. Come on Mils make the playoffs.

Parker -- Parker fan, 21:59:48 01/09/03 Thu [1]

Parker is not officially playing with the Moose Jaw Warriors, he is playing as an AP. Talk to Parks himself. He will be going to Moose Jaw to play for Friday night but don't worry fans he will be back in the Melville line up on Saturday night against Estevan. He is playing a few games here a few there but trying to get in all the games here that he can. Parker is not a guy to ditch his home town team so don't worry he will still be here!

Trade Deadline -- Dan, 12:27:37 01/10/03 Fri [1]

What are the Mills going to do? They will not make the playoffs and they have a few great young and over age players who deserve to be there. I hope Steve does one thing right this year and gives a guy like Todd a last chance to make a run for the Championship with a team that will make the post season. There have been at least 3 teams calling for the services of Todd and I hope he gets the chance. On the other hand, it looks like there is always "Next Year" for the young guys that have worked so hard all year but have had little guidance from behind the bench. The boys should be very proud of themselves in the fact that they have kept such a great work ethic over the past few months. Go Boys Go!

Jamie Langen -- Head, 14:03:17 01/13/03 Mon [1]

You can't expect a rookie goalie to be playing this late in the season especially when the Mils are desperate for wins. If I was Jamie I would get used to riding the pine for the rest of the season because the Mils need strong goaltending if they want to advance to the post-season. Good win in Estevan and leave no prisoners against Melfort!

So you call yourself a fan! -- Mils Fan, 20:20:25 01/13/03 Mon [1]

Someone said to me the other day that the reason they don't come to Mils games is because the team (and I assumed the executives and coaches) are not doing the things necessary to put together a winning team. This person went on to say that they would never come back to a Mils game unless there are some player and coaching changes and the team starts to win again (reminiscing to '93 and '00. Well, let me let you in on a little secret...if you are one of these people, do you not realize that this team is in debt and needs your financial support and your team support (well, not your kind of support, come to think of it, just give us your money). So many people are sitting there waiting for the perfect season...it's time face reality here people. We may make the playoffs this year, a highly doubt we can win the SJ, but I do know one thing, if we don't support our team now, when they need it, we won't win the SJ next year, we won't make the playoffs and why...because we won't be playing another regular season game. Think about it! See you at the rink!

[ Edit | View ]

Winning Teams -- lo, 09:35:50 01/14/03 Tue [1]

Of course everyone wants a winning team. That just does not happen over night. Teams are in trouble with the cash they have and need the fan support to get more cash. Have you spoke to the coaches to see what type of trades they were trying to make and the number of kids that would not report because they want to play on a winning team ONLY. These SJHL teams do not have spare money to throw around to get top notch hockey players the community thinks they should have. So the kids that do not want to report to a new team what do you think the coaches should do with them. They get nothing for them and the trades are then not successful. Is that the fault of the coaches that those kids are spoiled and do not do anything that they do not want to do. Those are the kids the team needs to get rid of but who would want them. Try out the coaching job for a couple of days close to the trade deadline and see if it is as easy as you all think it is. Way to go Steve we are behind you all the way.Fight hard for that playoff spot and show your fans the team can do it. Go Mils Go....

[ Edit | View ]

Winning Teams -- #1 fan, 17:32:17 01/14/03 Tue [1]

Losing games is bad but not near as bad as losing our team forever, so suck it up and cheer them on whether they win or lose. Maybe we should be looking more closely at local boys in our area who really WANT TO PLAY HOCKEY and let the whinners who only want to play on a winning team find somewhere else to play. Melville is a great place to play hockey. I know I have played there!

[ Edit | View ]

Agreed -- A Fan, 18:07:16 01/14/03 Tue [1]

I agree with Mils Fan and lo...
We sit behind the glass and bicker about this player and that player and why didnt Steve do this or that and if u sit down and think about how "easy" it is....I think you should try it. I have never been a coach and I would never want to be for there is sooo much pressure thatis put on not only the coaches but the boys as well. Most of the messages are about how the boys should be doing this and what not...if you can do better...I dare you!!
The boys need our fan support and if we dont start giveing it to them, they will give up and we wont have a team next year and that would be sad if "The Tradion" of the Mils didnt continue!! Come on people...Instead of criticzing, support the boys and the organization!!
GO MILS GO! The playoffs ARE still in reach for us!!

[ Edit | View ]

Trade Comments -- Dan, 18:39:57 01/14/03 Tue [1]

I just read that teams in the SJHL do not have the money to get the the trades/players they need. Players only want to go to a winning team. Well, that is where a good coach and a good scouting progran comes into play. If we had either of the two we may not be in the position we are in now, fighting for our playoff lives. It is not magic that is making the top teams top teams. It is the people who run the teams that does it. I hear that that the Mills have no money yet they signed a losing coach to a 2 year deal last year. What kind of money sense does that make? I go to every game that I can make so don't give the excuse that we have to support the team. We are doing that yet not seeing any results. I heard something like this from a wise man "If you always do what you've always done then you will always get what you already got". Think about it. Boys, it amazes me how you can keep up your hard work ethic and great attitudes. Keep it up!

Mills Fans ? -- Jaybird, 07:03:58 01/15/03 Wed [1]

Here we go again with the negative comments. It sounds like "November" all over again. I read this forum every day and for a while it looked like fan support and understanding was on a roll, but if you look at some of the recent comments, the back stabbers and critics are coming out of the wood work again. What is with some of you, can't you ever see the good side of anything.

The difficultly at the trade deadline is not with Mills players not wanting to be here, they love playing for this team and community. It's with some of the 20 year old's who were on the market. It's thier last kick at the cat and they want to be moved to a percieved "contender". Big deal ! Let's rant about that for a while.

Steve made a great move, getting a solid, proven blueliner. He had to give up a couple of great young men for it and they will be missed by all. Good luck to all concerned.

The Mills are playing great hockey , they have the best record in the division over the last 10 games and WILL make the playoffs and make some noise. They're playing solid team hockey and each and every one of them is proud to live and play here. Instead of crapping on everyone here in the forum, go talk to a player or a coach and you'll find out that these guys believe in themselves and each other.

As far as the "clown" who is calling Steve a loser goes, post your own resume on this forum and we'll see if we can get some comments on your accomplishments.

Just to clear up any confusion -- Dan, 19:50:32 01/15/03 Wed [1]

The boys are just a few wins away from a possible a Wildcard playoff position. Keep working hard boys. Todder, this is where your leadership and scoring qualities must come out. Keep up the excellant effort and others will follow. P.S. Stating that a coach has a losing record and calling him a loser are two different things. Perhaps jaybird should read a comment(and try to understand it) before he makes his own comments on it. I guess not everyone is able to understand what is written. (That goes back to grade 3 English and Comrehension classes) Feel free to drop by my classroom if you need some help. Go Mills Go!

Stuff... -- Dont freak; its my opinion!, 21:18:58 01/15/03 Wed [1]

I know the boys like playing here and are happy with each other but somehow I dont think they like the coach. Steve is too nice of a guy and the nice guys dont always make the best coaches! I was talking to a guy that played for a really tough coach last year and he loved it and guess what...The made it all the way and he said that there really isnt that much discipline on or off the ice. For example...What happened to the COACHES doing curfew call?? Im sorry but that is not the responsibilty of the captain or the assistant captains. The coach should be the ones calling to make sure who is home and who isnt home. Another thing is not giving the boys pre-game when they are on the road?? No wonder they dont win. They work their butts off but they dont have anything in their system to keep them going...Thats a tough coach, but in the wrong way. But this is MY opinion and Im sure some people will disagree but hey, if you have a right to an opinion, so do I! GO MILS GO! Playoffs are calling YOUR name!!

Sticking together and believing in each other through he tough times is paying off. Take it one step at a time and soon you'll find yourselves in the drivers seat. Keep up the hard work, your efforts and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated by all. Great game !

P.S. : Dan, your comments that prefaced and followed up your remark on Steve's "losing record" would tend to make one think that perhaps you do not think to highly of our coach. Steve is highly respected by his "players" and together they have done an admirable job in turning things around in the past weeks. I guess they left out "spelling and punctuation" in your grade 3 class. Which bar do you hold these classes in ?

Pre-game?? -- Mils Fan, 07:07:18 01/17/03 Fri [1]

Hey stuff or whoever the heck you are....The mils have never shorted these players on food....ever!!! Ask around the league and some of the teams don't get anything after games, only on road trips. If the team leaves at 2 in the afternoon why is the team responsible to feed them their pregame meal. Thats the responsibility of their billets. Theres only been once that they hadn't gotten fed after a game and that was after playing Notre Dame once and they'd played so terrible they didn't deserve it. They came straight home but it wasn't even two hours away from here so its not like they had to ride several hours without eating afterwards. Saying comments like that is ridiculous and I think you have alot of nerve... and lack of information. Maybe the kid who told you that just didn't like what was ordered but then again that's his problem if he chose not to eat it. Shouldn't have to order 25 different meals just so everyone gets exactly what they want.

One point is better than none!! -- Hextall, 20:18:44 01/17/03 Fri [1]

There has to be an easier way to win other than spotting them five points. On the positive side, our boys really poured it on in the second and third, and showed what they were capable of. We had them in OT, too, just off an inch or two, three or four times. Good game, guys, and better luck tomorrow night. Just too bad #17 didn't get what was coming to him!!

Info -- Tim Bits, 14:33:30 01/19/03 Sun [1]

This was posted by Aces & Eights on the SJHL site...I thought it was great and should also be posted on here!

Been doing some late night research and here are my ponderings for this past weekend:
1. Battlefords has lost only twice this year by a five point spread. The Mils did it both times. A fine All-Star performance by Pesony tonight.
2. The Mils were the only team to score six or more points on the Stars this season, and the only team in the last two months to score more than four points on the Klippers.
3. The Mils have beaten/tied the second/third/fourth place north teams in the last three games, outplayed them, beat them up, and spit them out.
4. We've scored more goals than any team in our conference, and have the best past ten performance as well.
5. We have the best at-home power play in the league, period. If Melville gets four shots on the power play, one will go in.
6. We got points from nine different players on Saturday, ten on Friday, and eleven on Wednesday. Wow!
7. Derek Parker has shown Melville fans what style of undershirts many of the opposition's players are wearing!
8. Both of our goaltenders have proven they can run with the best of them. Congrats to Jamie Langen for stepping up to the challenge.
9. Melville fans are cheering in the stands.
HATS OFF TO THE MILS!!!

MILLS ARE AWESOME!!! -- Dirk Diggler, 06:32:57 01/20/03 Mon [1]

WOW! What a weekend of hockey in Melville! A great comeback against a very good team in Kindersley, and a @#%$ kicking against NB. The Mills have proven to be one of the top teams. I sure would not want to play these guys in the playoffs. Great job by Steve to get a quality D-man in Chad B.#2. Boy do the Mills have alot of firepower! It seems like they score 6 or more every game! The goaltending was excellent. It is healthy for a team to have two goalies going well. The fans were also incredible this weekend. I hope to see over 1000 at every game for the stretch run. Fans who missed this action, i feel bad for them. p.s. Derek Parker RULES!!!!

The recent success is a welcome result of establishing a consistent work ethic. The talent has been there all season, but only surfaced for short lengths of time. Don't wait for someone else to lead from example. Every shift is your chance to inspire the guy next to and after you. Winning isn't blind luck.

Saturday's game -- Bronco Fan, 20:33:59 01/25/03 Sat [1]

Just a question, how does it feel to have the Ref win the game for you? Sounds to me like the Ref was from Melville. How do you do it, get the Ref to be from your home town? You got lucky tonight, because if it would not have been for the Ref, the Broncos would have shut you down. Notice the standings in the league, um 1st place over all. Way to go Broncos. It's really too bad that we won't get to play you again, to show you how we can really play. Be sure to thank the Ref for the win!

[ Edit | View ]

Comment on the above -- Ace$ & Eights, 21:08:35 01/25/03 Sat [1]

I see the Humboldt coach has Internet access in his room!!!

If we got so lucky how come we won last night:
Melville Millionaires 5, Nipawin Hawks 2

Tied you clowns in your barn:
Melville Millionaires 3, Humboldt Broncos 3

Beat the Stars on the 18th:
Melville Millionaires 8, Battlefords' North Stars 3

Tied the Klippers on the 17th:
Kindersley Klippers 6 Melville Millionaires 6

Beat the Mustangs on the 15th:
Melfort Mustangs 2 Melville Millionaires 6

And outplayed, outscored and outmuscled you tonight. Admit it - Humboldt lost tonight and last night on stupid penalties, plain and simple. Yes you have a good club, but if you win games on the hopes that the referee will look the other way with cheap shot tactics, well guess again. The ref might not have called the best game, but rest assured the Broncos got what they deserved. Just because Humboldt has the best record in the SJ doesn't mean that victories should be handed over.

Luck had nothing to do with it, Melville has played six games against five north teams in the last ten days and not lost once. In fact we outscored the North 33 to 18 in those six games, these teams are ranked 1,2,3,4 & 6 as of today. Must have been just luck, eh?

How about Derek Parker?? Did he get first star? Should have after humiliating those three or four Broncos at the end of the game.

Anyone reading this want to take gentlemen bets on how many games the Humboldt coach gets for his little tantrum??? I say two. Place your bets now!!!!

Would just like to say great game tonight guys. But little disappointed in what developed in the last few minutes. When one of your teammates gets jumped by 3 of the opposition. Where are the rest of his linemates!!!!! Doesn't look to good when 1 player has to take on 3,while others just stand and watch.

Saturday game -- 'Former' Old South Guy, 23:05:33 01/25/03 Sat [1]

I am sorry to say that I was embarrased to be cheering for Yorkton last night and Melville tonight - as a matter of fact I quit cheering before the game was done. I am glad the Mils got the points - I am just sad that we had it given to us by terrible officiating. Now you can all jump down my back if you like but I think we have to be honest here. Our boys got the win tonite but we will never know if they really got it or if it was just because the ref gave it to us. We are really playing great hockey right now but games like this do not do us justice. Games like this leave us questioning our talent and we should not be doing that. We should be feeling exhilerated after a win - not wondering if we really deserved it. come on - 3-2 - it was anybody's game until the ref decided to settle it for us. This was a sad day in hockey. What are we going to do when the officials take the game from us and give it to our opposition? Smile and be happy - I don't think so. Play hard boys and don't let this so called win go to your heads. The playoffs are right there and they will be tough.

Saturday's Game -- Mills Fan but Open Minded, 10:07:49 01/26/03 Sun [1]

Bronco fan....too bad you weren't here to see the game. You may not have been so proud. Wasn't in the Bronco dressing room but it was clear Coach Beatty's game plan was to aggitate Derek Parker and others into penalties and perhaps an early shower. Lots of extra little slashes and pushes during play and after whistles. Mills did a good job of disciplining themselves. Lots of stick work i.e. C Olynick spearing and cross checking, R Olynick twice for c/c, J Wray butt ending. They succeeded in getting Michael Epp to drop his gloves but then wouldn't go with him. If the ref handed this one to us as you suggest was it the same ref Friday night in Yorkton where the Terriers scored 4 or 5 pp goals in the third?? (I honestly don't know). The Broncs are leading the league in points and can be an awesome team especially on the pp but don't forget they are also leading the league in penalty minutes. This is by design by Coach Beatty and not an accident or because the ref's have it in for Humboldt. Didn't see the incident with J Wray and Bobby Chad Mitchell but I've see Wray play often enough to suspect he wasn't an innocent by stander. It seems the five game suspension didn't cool him off.

Hey 'Former' Old South Guy...whaddya think? Epp came in and helped Parker out but admittedly others didn't. I like to see the team support each other as well but Derek was never in trouble handling the three guys himself. As you know Derek's linemates roles are not to drop the gloves and at this stage of the play off drive we don't need any body out serving line brawl suspensions. Whadda think?

I don't like and neither does Derek how people are disappointed in his teammates for not coming in and helping becuase Derek told me that before that shift he siad something might go down cuz he said he had to do something about thoughs cheap hits and he told his linemates to go staight to the box that he could take care of himself cuz he didn't want them to either get hurt or suspended and thats what they did and it was good of them to do it. Derek told me he has a role on his line to look after his linemates not for them to look after him he had even at times got mad at guys for after he took a punch or a croscheck for guys that came in and tried to help him out and even up the penalties cuz he said he knows what hes doing and will take that for a pp so thoughs that are disappointed you shouldn't be cuz thats what Derek wanted and i think he did alright.

Mills Handed the Game?????? -- Mr.Ed, 17:06:26 01/26/03 Sun [1]

To: Fromer Old South Guy

Are you trying to tell all of us that Humboldt did not seal their own destiny. Humboldt played a strong fore checking game and tried deprerately to intimidate Parker and others every chance they got. The entire situation seemded to get out of hand when R. Olyniuk took a 50 foot run (FROM BEHIND) and attempted to decapptitate # 11 from Melville ( are we to believe the re'fs made Mr. Olyniuk do this. During the very neck play # 10 from Humboldt cross checked # 10 form Melville also across the head. Again the darn referee made him do this, Belive it or not he also got a 5 min maljor (I guess he didn't deserve this as well). When it comes down to the last couple of minuites I guess D. Parker clearly showed why he is one of the most feared players in the SJHL.I won't even waste ink on the behaviour of the Humboldt coach, I don't think he noticed MR. Kartusch in the stands ( the pocket book should be a litte lighter come next week and I think there will be a few players getting well deserved rests

Anybody know when spring camp is? From watching the highlights on tv your'e in need of a couple of good D men.
I can't believe Parker's scoring - He must be planting his
@#$ in front of the net & they're banking the puck off him-
from what I heard in Lethbridge he coudn't skate down the ice without falling on his face. His presence does earn respect from others - I'll give him that.

What time is the game on Sunday? I was thinking of stopping in the Ville to watch Parker eat some chicken Wings. Maybe they could serve them at the concession. Not hot Wings though - could be a little bloody with one in each hand....make sure he's got an extra clean jersey for the game

Hey tough guy, if your so anxious for the Mills training camp coming up because the "D" men are so bad, explain why your not on the team this year instead of watching the highlights from home. Aswell, we had 2 "D" men go to the All-Star Game, so if are "D" are so bad, explain that. So you just come out to spring camp, and we'll see how well you do. Hope you get an invitation

Wake up -- blue liners, 06:18:34 02/06/03 Thu [1]

Why are you benching the #2 dman and playing guys that have cost us games as of late. With a one goal lead in the final minute, you want your best d out there, not sitting on the bench. Instead we have two guys that cost us the game tying and game losing goals. When is the coaching staff going to see this.

Steve, Look down and to the left -- Lady, 06:48:55 02/06/03 Thu [1]

Steve, baby, last time I looked at your bench there were two
goalies and the last time you alternated them they were doing great. It's not like one has a lot more experience than the other, please one year. Regardless, the fact remains that when you alternated them instead of wearing Quinton out he played better and when you keep Jamie in the game, instead of throwing him in a game, he played better. So what do you say?

To coach -- Lady, 14:50:57 02/06/03 Thu [1]

That was one of the rudiest thing I've read on here to date. You should be ashamed of yourself. If Mr. Smeltzer wasn't an all star how did he make the "ALL STAR TEAM" do you think they just hand out those awards to everyone. Maybe you should watch more of the game he has been playing this year and spend a little less time on your computer. Because he is having a great year. I would hope that the forum administration would stop crap like this from being printed as this is a hockey forum not a single out a player and crap on them forum. Keep up the good work Smelly and ignore the negative people with no brains.

Confused -- Millionare Supporter, 16:07:36 02/06/03 Thu [1]

I see panic in the eyes of our coaching staff. They are unable to determine who they should and should not play. It makes no sense as to how he is working the goalies. Last night he dressed 7 D and mixed them all up and it was apparent they were not working as a team, he then sits Smeltzer out for the entire 3rd period, Smeltzer made one error that led to a goal but you could pick almost any candidate to sit out for errors last night. We need all of the players to be treated as part of the team this time of the season. From my vantage point all I saw was two confused caoches who really seem to be totally out of touch with the players on the team. I also belive that there is no team in Melville as we have 23 individuals who do very little as a team other then practice and play. I enquired with 4 or 5 parents who have players on other teams and they have many team functions that don't involve sleep or TV
We need our coaches to be involved and to interact with all of the players. Melville has much to offer these boy's and they have much to offer Melville. Why are we sitting players that have worked hard and committed thenselves to the Millionaires yet now they are cast aside, these types of
things lead to a group of players not on the same page and left wondering where they fit into this group. Let our coaches know that they need to get there act together

Blue liners comments out of line.... -- Old Mils Fan, 17:27:56 02/07/03 Fri [1]

I don't understand how you and other forum writers have this thing about blaming one sector of the team namely defence. I thought this was a team game. Wake up... to the fact that we rarely win faceoffs... unless our defence are taking the faceoffs pretty hard to blame them for everything!!! Maybe a little hustle on everybodies part will work...darn seemed to work in other games. Maybe the defence should also play goal too. This has all to do with a system... I believe the players will buy into anything that they are sold and to date there is NO SYSTEM.

Nice Performance -- Not Suprised, 22:49:29 02/07/03 Fri [1]

Not suprised Jamie played tonight and got the win just what the team needed.Speaking of the team im sure everyone gave 100% to come away with a win.But look how good you jamie is playing do you honestly think just becuse he is a rookie he deserves to be sitting at this time of the year, age means nothing this kid has hung in there all year and we all know he deserved to play more but he stuck it out and when he has been given the opportunity lately he has performed great and has given us some much needed wins.He seems to stive on pressure so why not go with this hot hand, rember a rookie named patrick roy won the stanley cup in his first year . so why not roll the dice this kid can carry us all the way to the playoffs im sure.he deserves the opportunity the team really seem to rally around him.Great win tonight guys look forward to another win sunday,as hard as you guys have worked all season you deserve the playoffs so go out and get it.Mils rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goalies, Goalies -- Lady, 08:36:29 02/12/03 Wed [1]

I would like to briefly comment on the newest batch of comments on our goalies. Yes, young Jamie is doing a great job, but let's not forget Quinton, who helped get us to and keep us in a playoff spot. I will say it again, when we alternate the two of them they play at their best, they seem to feed off of the competition that they create amongst themselves. They are both excellent goalies. The remainder of the team is also playing like a play off team so I think we may just have a chance. Keep up the good work guys, Play Offs here we come!!!!!!!!

Derek Parker #1 -- OPENICEHIT, 13:26:15 02/13/03 Thu [1]

Derek Parker was an absolute pleasure to watch in the WHL. I live here in Salem OR, 26 hours from Melville and just know how much we love this kid. We were so disappointed the Portland Winter Hawks did not try to acquire him at the WHL trade deadline. We really needed to add some toughness to our lineup and Derek would have been the perfect fit. It is a shame he is seeing almost no time up with the club in Moose Jaw but it is great to see his on-ice success for the Millionaires. He can definitely skate from one end to the other, many times right over the top of opposing players. Hopefully he will continue to bring the noise every game and deliver what the fans REALLY want in hockey, banging some bodies and solid hard hits. The fact that he is contributing on the offensive side is just a bonus. Derek, thanks for the years of inspiration . . .

By the looks of it the mills have two hot goalies, in Langens last 5 hes 4-1-0 with a 2.40 gaa, and in Gauthiers last 5 hes 2-3-0 with a 3.40 gaa. Both guys have showed they can play, so let them. I wouldnt mind seeing Jamie in net against Laronge tho, but Quinton against Notre Dame, hes got our only win against them. Its going to be tight boys, we have to beat Nipiwan and Laronge forsure, and hopefully beat Weyburn, Notre Dame, and Estevan. It can be done, so lets do it.
