When's Todd coming back? -- Ed the Sock, 14:18:16 11/15/02 Fri [1]

How much longer do the Mills have to play without Ashley Todd? They really need to get his scoring touch back. Any word on new defense prospects? Just a quick note to the mother of one of the Mills d-men. Just because your son tries hard does not make him a good defenseman. It takes some natural talent to play in this league as well. Robert Poirier and coach Young try hard to understand hockey but still they seem to have no clue. Sometimes trying hard is just not enough. Go Mills Go!

My Gosh... -- Sensational Journalist, 00:13:41 11/16/02 Sat [1]

GO CHESS GO!!! That is all I have to say! The Melville Millionaires Executive made the biggest mistake ever getting rid of Chesney! He has everything we lack in a team. He can get the team motivated in a heartbeat.. Bring in fans! Can our coach! I think not! All I got to say is,, The Yorkton Terriers now have my season pass ticket! The Millionaires have lost the heart of the game, and the coach definately doesn't have the coaching skill to get the team motivated to want to win. Hockey is more then just skill, you have to have the motivation and desire to make that skill work! All I gotta say.. Two thumbs up for Chesney!!

As for our team, we definately have the skill.. We just need someone to do something with it! Till then,, we will just be in the ranks!

Ed (choke) on your sock.. -- Old Mils Fan, 09:02:24 11/16/02 Sat [1]

I think you have to pull the sock out of your mouth cause I agree with the mother, the dmen are not the only guys out there... when you see passes made to forwards with their stick off the ice then chase the puck sounds like we need to trade some of these guys too. We need stronger forwards who can win face offs ... ya count how many we win in a game... any game... we are getting pushed around so easily on this one. I agree we also have a few dead woods on def. but not all. In the ND game when two of the rookie's get first and second star what does that tell you.

Room for Improvement.... -- Aces & Eights, 11:01:21 11/16/02 Sat [1]

Wow!! What a game in Yorkton last night! Yorkton was due for a good win, and win they did! There is no doubt "the Sensational Journalist" is right in the fact that Ches is a great motivator, always was, always will be. Too bad the old farts around here don't realize that. Here's a few observations:

1) Our defence is really hurting. This is painfully obvious and anyone that denies it needs to give their head a shake.

2) Our forwards cannot complete a pass. They consistently lost the puck last night, couldn't complete a play, and even had trouble staying on their skates!!!

3) Our so-called "special teams" were terrible last night also; two short handed goals, and one power play goal for them. Not good.

4) Complacency seem to be running rampant!! Where is the motivation?? Dustin cannot do it all himself!!! People complain that he doesn't pass or hogs the puck. People should realize that maybe he doesn't give it up because he doesn't want to lose the puck to the opposition. Our forwards' puck handling is just terrible.

5) Before anyone goes blaming the goalies last night, realize that there was no defence last night, none. Granted, both were not at the top of their game, but neither was anyone else. Period.

On a positive note, young Zulyniak seemd to have a decent game. It's nice to see him getting some ice time. Also I think Haacke and Wilson handled themselves very well last night. At the very least, it will make anyone from Yorkton think twice about tangling with either of them.

3 stars -- someone at the game, 20:35:25 11/16/02 Sat [1]

WOW what a great game guys, the only thing I didn't completely agree with were the choices for the 3 stars. Everyone played hard but I would have made three completely different choices: Jr. Langen, K. Savard and what about K Smeltzer, I would like to award all the Mils a star tonight, but these young men played extremely well. Regardless, we won. As for the person who says we lost a great coach in Chesney, if tonights performance is your idea of a "great coach" you can keep him, he showed how really immature he can be. If him acting like a idiot is the only way to bring in fans, then I feel sorry for the future of hockey in Yorkton.

TRADES -- MILLSFAN, 21:18:41 11/16/02 Sat [1]

The only trades that needs to take place is the coaching staff. These boys have great talent and need someone there to use will bring out the best in them and get them winning. Coaches play a huge role in a game and they call the shots- sorry to say but Steve Young is far from what Melville needs to win. Go get em boys- you can do it!

Fans -- Sensational Journalist, 00:30:36 11/17/02 Sun [1]

Hmmnnn, if we don't have fans..... We don't have a team!! And its obvious which coach can bring in the fans. AT one time we could beat Yorkton hands down on the fan situation.. Now look who is bringing in the cash for the team! Last Night Yorkton had 1500+ people in the stadium. We barely drew in 900! (P.S. Yorkton has always been a bigger city, but we were always able to beat them on fans!) Chesney's crazy antics maybe immature to some, but it does get his team motivated as well as bringing in the fans! I wouldn't be suprised within the next few years if you see Chesney's Team rising to the top as well the seat sales increase within Yorkton. Yorkton got a great coach and a smart executive!

As for our team, I'm proud of the win tonight, the boys did well. Hope they can keep winning those games and have fun while doing so!

Chesney's crazy antics -- someone at the game, 13:21:37 11/17/02 Sun [1]

How can you say that Chesney motivates his team with his antics, when after his performance his team went to pot. Ya, that's real motivation. I hope he motivates them like that next time we meet. Way to go Melville!

No Defence???????? -- Razzle Dazzle, 16:45:15 11/17/02 Sun [1]

To Aces&Eights

Which game did you go to on Friday night to take the blame off of the goalteners and place it on the defence. Of the 8 goals scored 3 were from the blueline and were just poorly played by the goaltenders. 1 was a breakaway when Dusty fell, 1 was a jam that Gauthier could not handle and 1 was a backdoor that the forward dod not pick up the wider forward as he came form behind, the balance of the goals were scored after the game was out of reach. You must have been watching a totally different game then the rest of us, or your are the parents of one of the goaltenders?

My Humble Opinion -- Aces & Eights, 21:11:55 11/17/02 Sun [1]

My observations are my take on what I saw there, along with a bunch of other Melville people saw who were sitting with and around me. If you would have read my post you would see that I suggested the loss was the fault of EVERYONE on the ice, not the goaltenders, not the defense, not the forwards, but a collective loss. The boys had a really bad night, lost their composure in the second period and let the game slip from their grasp.

"Granted, both ('tenders) were not at the top of their game, but neither was anyone else. Period."

If you don't like my OPINION, Razzle, that's fine, but I'm sure I'm not alone...

Hats off on Saturday night's performance, boys. It was a well deserved, well executed win, one we needed. Let's carry it on to Notre Dame!!!!!

Aces & Eights .... -- Old Mils Fan, 15:04:19 11/18/02 Mon [1]

YOu seem to state it twice in #1 defence and in #5 Defence again what's the point with this... sound obvious just not your HUMBLE OPINION... but you seem to want to repeat it...
Besides we should spend more time on the positive win the boys got on saturday instead of ranting about a loss that obviously was the opposite on SAT. ... Good to see the Mils bounce back and take it to Yorkton.. we can win with more than eight goals and have good scoring punch too. Wey to go MILS ... keep digging forcing the puck in the corners by the fowards and the defence ... winning face offs was a big part of SAT game also... take it to them in Notre Dame...
I understand that Ross left the team , that's too bad cause he was one of the better veterans.

As for guys like Steve, Mike Epp and Ashley, hang in there boys- the wins will start coming your way- Melville needs you guys and hopefully your team will start to have a better season so you can can enjoy your last year here.
GOOD LUCK MILLS and bye Tom!!!!!!!

thats it! -- Yorkton sucks!, 10:23:13 11/19/02 Tue [1]

hey i disagree cause no matter how hard the fans are positive on the guys they still lose and the fans are starting to get pissed off. And i think the reason we won on Saterday is because the boys had more comfidence with Jamie in net rather than gotchey. I dunno what steve sees in him it is kinda dissapointing when he faces 4 shots and he lets 3 in. Maybe the executive better sit back and think about what is going to happen when melville gets no fans in the stands and they can't afford to have a sj team.

Just stating the facts -- Mils Fan, 07:49:27 11/20/02 Wed [1]

If you look at the stats, the Mils have the potential to be a number one team. Here is what I mean. The Mils are the most well disciplined team in the SJ with the lowest PIM's at 616. They are 5th in GF and are pretty average when it comes to GA. The Mils have the 5th best power-play (3rd at home)and 4th best penalty kill in the league. The Mils never lost a game by more than two goals until their recent loss to the Terriers in Yorkton. I think that is a real accomplishment because it proves that they don't give up easily. In fact, they have lost a total of 8 one-goal games and remarkably sit 4 points out of second place in the Sherwood. So for everyone who thinks motivation is a problem...the players play hard. If coaching is a problem...it seems as though they can work their power-play, prevent power-play goals and stay disciplined. The only problem is with the fans, support these guys, tell them how good of a job they are doing, focus on the positives, attend their games and sooner or later the team will be in second place.

Tough loss tonight guys. Was anyone that goes on this board at Estevan?? What is with the two interference on goaltenders calls? Were they running our goalie? If so, I hope someone at least stepped up and taught them a lesson!!

Years ago, interference on a goaltender would NOT have been tolerated. Maybe if we had someone like Jimmy Siwap, Brad Prefontaine, or even Derek Parker around to put the fear of God into the opposition, there might not be any BS calls like that! Perhaps Steve could talk to Mike Polonich and get him in and give the bigger boys a few pointers on how to use the body, or at least hammer someone!!!!!

Canadas' greatest pastime. -- d-mans' spouse., 00:18:09 11/21/02 Thu [1]

Let me begin by saying,... that any young "gentleman" that plays in the "SJHL" , "WHL", or any other Junior hockey league, have made it there, because they have a love for the game. To make a team at that level, one HAS to have SOME natural ability. Anyone that has been through the ranks, and has made a team of this caliber has worked long and hard at their craft!! If I went to work everyday and came home to a computer to see how well I did at work that day, only to see that my customers tell me how bad I, or my boss, did that day, I would find it very difficult to keep going back to my place of employment the next day!! Ladies, Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, these young men are trying their hardest. Give them a hand up and maybe see what they can do with alot of positive recognition, and while we're in the mood, lets give the "bosses" a boost of confidence as well!! Between Baseball and Hockey over the years, my wife and I have found Melville to be a very Prosperous, and fun place to be. (Our eldest son played some baseball tournaments in Melville). Our son that plays hockey with "Our" Millionaires, is very happy to be a part of a hockey team as rich in tradition as the "Melville Millionaires", please, lets not cheapen this tradition with so much negativism.$$$$MILLIONAIRES$$$$

Some great comments -- Jaybird, 12:46:32 11/21/02 Thu [1]

My hats off to the two individuals who wrote "Just stating the facts" & "Canada's greatest pastime" and I could'nt agree more.
These are very good hockey players, they would'nt be here if they were'nt. They come to the rink every day and work thier butts off trying to get this slump turned around and then they get back to thier billets, turn on the computer and read about how bad they and thier coaches are. If you don't believe that they care about Melville and that this streak of bad luck is driving them crazy, then just ask one of them. They've given thier hearts and souls to this team and community and it's high time we gave it back to them. They've left family and friends behind to play for the "Millionaires" and are proud of being "Millionaires" !!!The coaches spend countless hours trying to get this season going in the right direction and if all of us "Hockey Experts" want to prove how smart we are, then lets start by first seeing it through thier eyes.
I believe that all of us "FANS" need to come to the rink and show the same dedication and spirit as these young men. We've got Estevan in Melville on Saturday and I can't think of a better way to show the boys that we care than by jamming the stadium and raising the roof. Let's show them that we're proud that they're our "Millionaires" and be that seventh man for them.
When people we care about stumble and fall, we don't kick them when they're down, we help them up, pat them on the back and walk beside them through thick and thin.

But they are right they want to win they want to play for a winning team. So lets fix whatever the problem is that costs us games and is causing players to leave, and lets win some friggin games

What are we going to do???????????? -- Concerned Hocky Fan, 07:32:04 11/22/02 Fri [1]

FRUSTRATION for fans, players coaches is the main topic of discussion in regards to the 2002/03 Mills. What are we doing or what can be done to turn thigs around. We all feel this team has the ability but appears to lack the what it takes to accomplish results. There are a couple of options that the coaches can turn to.

1). They can trade players and hope that the new players can ignite the team to better things as soon as possible, similar to last year after we traded some of the 20 year olds and we went on a terror after Christmas.

2). We can be patient and hope the turn around is near.

3). The coaching staff can review the teams performance as well as the performance of the team leaders and determine if a change in captains might help instill a new life. Being a great player on the ice does not overshadow a poor
performance in the dressing room, some people are great leaders in the battlefied but lack the ability to be leaders in the boardroom!!!!!!

4). The executive may consider a coaching change ((personally I think this would do little at this time). We need accountabilty from both players and the coaches to unite all to forge ahead. Are they all on the same page. Is it possible that with Steve wearing two hats ( Coach & General Manager) that the load has become to much?

5). As fans we have a responsibilty and a right to want a
winning team. We need to support whomever is on the Millioniares as both coaches and staff. The executive has the responsibily to locate the best persons to control the teams destiny). As volunteers many of us would not cherish
the position they now find themselves in. This is OUR TEAM and without it the winter would be even longer. I challange all of you to show up on Saturday evening to show OUR TEAM that we support them even when the going gets tough, I challange the players to produce for YOUR FANS as they deserve it. Lets begin on Saturday to work together for OUR MILLIONAIRS. Let Estevan know we are still alive and ready to KICK.

Thank you for the time to express how myself and many other people really feel

Mils4life(problem) -- Poirier, 09:06:02 11/22/02 Fri [1]

Playing on a winning team, if not then you quit. You would not play for me if I was the coach. Thank god I do not have that job. Everyone wants to win of course, bit it takes the players to get the job done. All of the people who write on this fourm and cut down the players, coaches, & executive should be slapped up side the head. Get a life. Noone is perfect and it takes hard work from everyone to get the wins that are deserved. The players who read these comments should be ashamed of you so called fans who do not encourage the boys to play hard, but only shoot them down. I was glad to see that the web master pulled off some of the none hockey issues that were posted here. Try supporting the team by heading out to all the games and cheering them on. Positive comments will lead to positive results. Let the boys know you are proud of them and what they do for the city of Melville. The league is getting tougher and it is getting more expensive. This is not the NHL where you have big corporations depositing money into a bank account to buy players. If it was only that easy. Maybe MILS4LIFE would like to sponser the team with some cash, or maybe purchase a meal for the team while they are out on the road. The cost to run a Junior team is very costly. Steve and Neil have done well and worked within their limits. Way to go Boys. Keep up the hard work and play hard.

Goalies -- Johnny Smocker, 09:23:00 11/22/02 Fri [1]

I have seen over 10 Mills games this year and would like to make a comment about the goaltending on our team. I feel we have one of the best goaltending tandems in the SJHL. Both goalies on the team(Jamie+Q) are high calibre tenders. In there 'AAA' carrers, they were the top goalies in the league. Each night the team gives up alot of quality shots on goal. I know they have had an off night now and then, but who has'nt? NHL goalies have the odd stinker. I would like to see more fan support for the goalies. I have not seen any other goalies around the league who are much better.

Stats and Whiners -- An Interested Observer, 23:23:06 11/22/02 Fri [1]

First of all I will be upfront and admit that because of distance I haven't seen the team play at all this year. I do follow them, however through this web site and the SJHL site. It's been interesting to read all the theories of the self proclaimed hockey experts in this forum and I thought I would add my nickels worth of insight.
I did some quick figuring tonight and discovered the the Mils stood 6th overall in goals for (3rd in their division) and 6th overall in goals against (2nd best in their division).
It would seem to me that to blame the defense is slightly misguided. I suppose they could boast the lowest goals/game average, maybe that would make everyone happy.
To blame the scoring punch also seems a bit off the mark. Third in the division, even better than Notre Dame's gpg average is not too bad.
It looks to me, from afar, that there are a number of things that aren't falling into place for the team.
The number of one goal loss games is very telling, the lack of penalty minutes may tell a tale, but I think what seems to be the problem is the lack of a unified game. One game the defence/goaltender plays great and the offence lets them down and then the reverse the next game.
I'm not sure from where this problem stems.. perhaps it's the leadership on the bench, perhaps the leadership on the ice, perhaps lack of good preparation from either the coaching staff or the players themselves.
It does, however, seem to me, that whining, name calling, bitching, not going to games is completely counter-productive.
A winning teams needs cohesiveness and positivity form all parties - management, coaches, players and not least of all fans.....
Just my thoughts from afar.

I spend alot of money on tickets etc. to support the team only to see them loose. sure they are playing hard. But there is something just not clicking and in which they are loosing. Maybe a trade or 2 to shake things up but something has to be done because I know all of u fans that read this post on this etc. are sick of the mils loosing. And anyone who says that we do not support the team, u are wrong because I know first hand that there are alot of people who post on here that go to mils games cheer and support the mils. Observer -- Possible Trades, 17:09:09 11/25/02 Mon [1]

It is hard to trade guys, when no one what's to give you anything in return. Steve put some guys up on the trading block, and guess how many calls he got? None. As for our ex-goalie, as good as he was, no one wants him because of his attitude, Steve can't get anything for him. What the guys need is some support from the fans, at the beginning of the season it was very evident that they had the potential to win, but when you have defense men that back off the puck when it is three feet infront of them, I think that that shows a complete lack of confidence. When defense men continually make mistakes and cost the team goals and the coaches do nothing but put the same guy or guys back on the ice, there is some sort of break down, and that partly is the fault of both the coaches . Maybe, if the fans support the team, and voice that they have confidence in the team, the guys will start to have some confidence in themselves, and just maybe we will get some wins. Good luck guys. I know you can win.

You make no sense at all. You talk about supprot and then you rip the defense apart. If you took time to read some of the stat information and not think to much about how little you know about hockey you would clealy understand that the winning problen CANNOT be blamed on any specific position. It takes a team effort to win as well as to lose. It is people like you who bring down the entire team effort. If you are aware of any player being put up for trade and you are telling that to everyone on this website then shame on you, that kind of information is very private and I doubt Steve would share this kind of information with someone not in a position to know. Use you verbal attacks to be positive and keep the team private information off this website as you are doing much more damage then good

Observer...Possible Trades... -- Old Mils Fan, 12:14:27 11/26/02 Tue [1]

Whoa... what a load... I thought this is a TEAM effort yet you seem to highlight part of the tEAm... I will quote you
""when you have defense men that back off the puck when it is three feet infront of them, I think that that shows a complete lack of confidence. When defense men continually make mistakes and cost the team goals and the coaches do nothing but put the same guy or guys back on the ice, there is some sort of break down""
How do figure this is the only area of concern when this team is supposed to work as a unit. Lets look at the whole team unit... the defenseman is not going to take a chance you say because the forwards do not come back and support them. Again blame the defensemen because when he commits to attack and gets burn't... so where are the forwards in LaLa land. Another way you can blame the defensemen is when they pass the puck up to the forwards on a break out the forwards are standing still or if their flying by skating so fast that they can't even pick up a pass...why continually do we see the forwards take a pass from a defensman and it bounces off the stick then the forward either has to chase it or it goes to the opposition... then again the opposition just get to the red line and dump it in... wow is this novel or what!!! there we can blame the defensemen for not getting it out again...lets go with this a little further... why when a forward pickup the pass from a defenceman does he ALLWAYS have to try to do it himself and wiggle ..twist ...turn between the red line and the blue of the opposition side... what wrong with firing it down deep....instead the FORWARDS LOOSE THE PUCK AND THE OPPOSITION CROSS THE RED LINE AND FIRE IT DEEP!!....but we can allways blame the defensmen for the lack of teamwork. Forwards continually make mistakes and are still sent out. Just count how many face off we have won. Your criticism is totally hippocritical.
It seems to me you have pick on only the defensmen...yet the defensmen will pass the puck to the forwards deep in the oppositions zone but the forwards when a defenseman is open do not pass to the point but try to shoot from a sharp angle. The other part of the team is the goalies and you seem to leave these guys out of the TEAM. Against Estevan there were at least two if not three goals that were the goalie and only the goalies responsibility.

Bottom line this is supposed to be a team effort with forwards, defensemen, and goalies getting the glory when goals are scored. Fans are supporting the team but you certainly are NOT by your obvious bias. The Mils want to win more than you or I ... there is not a player that goes out to LOOSE a game.!

I also purchase a Harvest ticket as do my in laws and we live in Bomber country. I purchase other Melville clothing but it does not give me the right to call down the team, and the coaches. Yes Steve does need to get tougher and the players need to give it there all. But win or lose they play to the best of there ability. It is just a game- Relax. That is fine to be upset with how they are playing but shooting them down will not help. Positive support will lead to positive results. If you are a team supporter it is if they are winning or losing. With all your whining you must be a Maple Leaf fan.

Dear Dan: -- In the Know II, 14:25:50 11/26/02 Tue [1]

As someone who frequents this board occasionally I sure would like to know where you get your information from. As far as I can tell there has been nothing on here about any coaching changes, nor any hints of any. I am certain that if there were any change in coaching for the team, that there would be some announcement made publicly by the executive, and as of today there hasn't been any. I know for a fact that executive members do check out this forum and have been known to post here also, and probably find it disheartening to read the spew of crap that goes on here.

When the fans should be supporting the team and showing confidence in the team, they have to read stuff like this?
Maybe you are a junior B coach looking for a shot at the big time, or Norm Johnson looking for a job? In any case maybe try show some support for the team instead of trying to cause trouble.

Right on OldMilsFan -- $$$fan, 21:14:33 11/26/02 Tue [1]

Your observations are right on! I would certainly agree
with your comments based on the games I have attended. I do not pretend to be a hockey know-it-all but this team has
what it takes to become a contender in this league. The boys need to play 60 minutes of hockey and they need a coach that can not only be technically right but one who can motivate. Perhaps the executive can consider finding someone right here in our community (past hockey players/coaches who have been there) who would happily if asked share some insight and experience to help regroup and motivate our team. Coach Young and Lamberty I am sure are as frustrated as their team; no one wants to be a part of a losing team. I will continue to attend Millionaire games no matter what. OUR team and their fans share not only a rich tradition of outstanding hockey, but a heck of a lot of PRIDE!!

MILLS SUCK -- Disappointed, 21:16:08 11/26/02 Tue [1]

Way to keep losing boys. NICE WORK- way to make Melville proud. Yes everyone says to give them words of encouragement but when they give up why even bother. Seems like these guys don't even wanna be here anymore. If so- to these guys- leave the team so we can get some guys with a love of the game here who will give 110%. If not suck it up and get your head in the game- its depressing watching you guys already!!!!!

Answers?? -- Aces & Eights, 22:18:57 11/26/02 Tue [1]

Lots of wizards here, but no concrete solutions. I do agree with some of the comments in that there doesn't seem to be the ability to play a full 60 minutes of hockey. Tonight's game stats seem to show it. Is it conditioning? lack of motivation? frustration? Definitely there has to be a shake up somewhere in this system. With the league situation the way it is with the jerk-offs from revenue Canada breathing down the necks of teams, we can't afford to NOT make the playoffs. Something has to be done, soon before the season is a write-off.

I see Labrie is off to the Rayside Belfour sabrecats of the Northern Ontario league for a Scott Kohut, a d-man. From their stats he's only played 2 games, no points, and 10 pm.
Anyone ever hear of this kid? Any relation ot the Kohuts from Calder/Wroxton? If he played for Rayside he should be something because they don't carry any dead weight with their reputation.

Oh well, here's something else for your entertainment:

BATTLEFORD GAME -- MILS FAN, 07:30:58 11/27/02 Wed [1]

Wilson broke his wrist in a line brawl,Savard in the fight as well. The team was never ahead, mental breakdowns cost goals, big rink 1000 plus fans,Mils started off flying fizzled out.It would have been nice to have Gauthier in net in his home town.Kindersly tonite, tougher team.It usually takes more than two goals to win a game.Every point counts and it is getting to the point something has to be done to turn things around.Trades, firings, whatever it will take to make these guys believe in themselves and that they can win. After the strong start in preseason and the great predictions it is sad to see what is happening and it is difficult to point fingers at any one direction but one thing is sure that a change has to be made for the good of the team.Go Mils.

Message to the "Fans" -- Hockey Rocks, 22:26:04 11/27/02 Wed [1]

Its the same old tune we need a change what you need is a break to snap out of this loosing streak. In prospective you have a very discipline team with a lot of offensive talent not to mention the defence and some quality Goaltending.

What this teams needs is some team building, and system changes. I for one look at all the games played and see a lot of one goal games that could have gone either way that is the game of hockey look at the oilers. A couple of wins could turn this team around and get the confidence back on the winning column. Don't give up on the team because the team will not give up on the fans. Remember it could be worse, you could be without a team then what stay at home and mope around, I don't think so. The next home game you should pack that building to the rafters and cheer on your team....
If I had the chance I would be their every game but unfortunitly we have a Junior "B" team where I am from with a population of 13,000 people and we still support our team win or loose you have to be their for them. Consider it like a marage when something goes wrong, do you give up hope I don't think so, you work it out that is the way to look at a team. If your not married then look at like family, eventually things will work out.
To the Mils team, you guys are awesome things will eventually go your way. It is all about momentum one win leads to the next, keep it simple build on your strong points and work on the others.

Labrie/ Kohut trade. -- Rayside Fan, 12:55:51 11/30/02 Sat [1]

I think that we here in Rayside win this trade big time. Labrie looked real good on thursday night making 44 save's and was the second star of the game last night. Both game's were loses though unfortunitly. Their on a bit of a losing streak at the moment because they've had some suspention trouble's and injury problem's. Kohut only lasted 2 game's here in Rayside and he wasn't that good. He also only lasted 15 game's last year in Parry Sound on the worst team in the Ontario Prov. Jr.A League(a 35 team league)You'll get the odd fight out of him but he's no tough guy or anything. Not a very good d-man either.

Labrie/ Kohut trade -- Hextall, 17:14:57 11/30/02 Sat [1]

Maybe so, but Justin didn't endear himself to many people around here because of a number of reasons. He is a good goalie and you will do well with him, as long as he gets what he wants. Hopefully your coachknow how to deal with a bad attitude

Labrie/Kohut trade -- Rayside Fan, 18:13:52 11/30/02 Sat [1]

Our coach is very good at dealing with bad attitude's and big ego's, as we've had a quite a few of them here in his 8 year stint as head coach. If he has a bad attitude then that mean's two of the three goalie's currently on our roster have bad attitude's. I have a feeling the two that have the bad attitude's will be the one's sticking around too, as one of them has been here for three year's. There's usually lot's of former OHLer's with big ego's on the team here and Ken MacKenzie(head coach)know's how to deal with them quite well as he's won seven straight league title's and has been to National's three time's. Anyway's. Hopefully Kohut will do better out there for you guy's then he did here in Ontario and best of luck to your team for the rest of the season.

Last night's game -- Hockey fan, 06:34:41 12/01/02 Sun [1]

Last night's game was pretty sad guys if you ask me. How many fans there?? Less than 600 for sure. But why is that?? Because you guys gotta start scoring! No one wants to pay ca$h to see a team lose night after night. So until the team gets a win under their belt, I believe the fans will find other things to do.

PS -- Where are all the guys going? Again, get a win, and maybe some of the more valuable players will stick around for the rest of the season.

How Many is To Many? -- Dan, 12:22:12 12/02/02 Mon [1]

When are things going to change? I've talked to some of the boys on the team and the attitude in the dressing room is at an all time low. The boys are not happy and they don't seem to see an end to this. A change has to be made. Moving a few players in and out will not make the difference. It has to start at the top. Steve, you just can't change things anymore. You have had so many years to make a winner and have not been successful. The executive has got to show the community and the boys on the team that they are committed to turning things around. Put a new coach in place to help give the town and the boys something to hope for. If Steve was your investment consultant would you keep him around if all he supplied you with was negative returns? Appartently the answer that the executive would give is "YES" Oh boy, is our team in a load of trouble. I really feel sorry for the young men that bust their butts on the ice but get no support from the crew that runs this team.

Klipper? That's good!!! -- Hextall, 19:57:46 12/04/02 Wed [1]

Klipper. That's good.

Maybe we can coerce Blaine Gusdahl to come out of his self-imposed retirement as a used car salesman to coach as well!

While we are at it, maybe we dould get Normie here too, as general manager. I hear he's not too bad as long as the meds take effect!!!

He%%, while we are at it, maybe the whole coaching staff from San Jose would be willing to come and give it a try.
Or Calgary.

What about Chris Constant. He is no longer employed as the head coach for Waywayseecappo: he'd probably work for pizza and doughnuts.

All these prospects, pick your choice... Me, I remember Steve winning 44 games one season. Maybe there are deeper problems other than just the coach.....

What are we going to do -- Mr. Ed, 12:01:04 12/05/02 Thu [1]

It appears to me that there is quite a bit of support for the Millionaire players as they continue to struggle in the win column. I have taken the time to read ALL of the submissions on this and other websites and I would have to say that most of the comments and opiniond are correct. We can talk all we need but action makes the world go around. Turfing a coach midstream can cause more problems then is good, Making this kind of change requires timing, the new coach will need time to hire new assistants and to study any game films or history on each player. If this is the move the directors choose then it must happen prior to Christmas so the new staff can make their evaluations in order to start the second portion of the season runnig rather then stumbelling, If we make this change there are NO guaranttees anything will be beter then it is now

[ Edit | View ]

Coach -- Puckrunner, 19:14:37 12/05/02 Thu [1]

Steve's not the problem, although he's responsible. Lets have some patience - How the boys are playing in Feb & Mar
is what really matters. There's not an insurrmountable gap
between 1st and last. Steve's one of the reasons my kid
wants to play for the Mils. Watch him behind the bench and then take a look at some of the other idiots. We're
not the only team struggling out of the gate. There's some good talent on the list - Turf Steve and the future
will end up going to BC & AB.

mils playoffs -- mils fan, 19:25:18 12/05/02 Thu [1]

Lets look at the facts
-Mils are 10 stright wins away from 500 hockey
-That would put them close to a playoff spot if all of the other teams they are chasing lost.
-quality players like Labrie,Ross,Savard,Bergen wont be back.Wilson gone with an injury.
-when these players were here and healthy and keen we still lost by a goal.
-last year the mils traded their 20 year olds and went on a winning streak.
This is my opinion.
Trade your 20 year olds if anyone wants them and start over for next year
Give the fans what they are telling you they want and we all know what that is and get a breath of fresh air in this town.
Whats done is done and lets get on with the job.The bottom line is the entertainment dollar from the Mills fans and they will tell you when things arent right.I think they have spoken.

Rain on the parade -- Hextall, 10:35:57 12/07/02 Sat [1]

Not sure what to read into a couple of the above messages. Nothing on the Hurricanes website other than Derek is a few minutes shy of 500 for total penalty minutes, and he's got 25 points this year. Can't really see him being cut or quitting, maybe someone could phone Leo's and ask? Would be nice though....

Zabreski (sp?) is here, was listed on the program last night, might play tonight.

Kohut was sort of a paper deal made to deal Labrie. From what I've heard, he's not showing up. Could be wrong on that though.

Savard got called up to Victoriaville of the QMJHL, probably stay there long enough to screw up his scholarship chances, might be back, might not.

Bergen is with the Blades for now.

Maybe I was wrong?? -- Hextall, 20:18:19 12/07/02 Sat [1]

I guess Derek Parker has returned, and definitely made his presence "felt" out there. An assist and took care of some housekeeping chores as well. Way to go Derek!!!

What a change in the last two games. I don't know who should take credit for it, but the wholesale change in our hockey team is phenomenal!! Last night was good, but tonight was great. We survived the "second period of doom" and had a great confidence builder - first back to back win this year, I think. Hats off men!!

Ashley Todd -- Dan, 12:01:28 12/10/02 Tue [1]

Todder comes back and the boys win 2 in a row. Now is the time to keep this thing going. The team has to win 8/9 of 10 just to make up some ground. There is no time left for playing 500 hockey. And a little note for the guy who stated that Steve won 40 games one year. If you knew anything about hockey you would know that the only thing that counts is what you do right now. I've never seen a team make the play-offs on last years record. Keep up the good work boys. Steve, you have got lucky once again as the boys have bailed you out and taken off a little pressure for a little while longer.
