Subject: Image format patent issues?

I was wondering if all of the file formats you support are freely usable. I am writing a commercial app that needs to view and write all of the formats you have in Envision. I have purchased version 2 and downloaded the upgrade.
I just read an article about a jpeg patent owned by Forgent, but i am unclear as to whether that applies to hardware only or any software that uses jpeg images. I was also wondering about all the formats envision supports. I know the Gif patent expires next year(already expired in the US) but i will not be adding gif support right now anyway. But i need to be able to include jpg, bmp, png, etc.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
