Hi Dave,

As far as I know, all formats used by Envision are not covered by active patents. The jpeg support is based on the indepedent jpeg group (an open source library also used by Delphi), and I have never heard that it was affected by any patent. I know png is patent free, since that was one of the goals when creating the format.

GIF is still in the gray zone, because I believe in some countries the patent has not expired.
