Subject: It’s worth remembering that at 22 DC play zero games for the Swans

At 23 he played 10 with us

Really there are several issues here
We need a genuine back up ruck who is capable of rucking for long periods if needed . Please be both factual, sensible and realistic here
Dan’s ruck work was paltry at best. It looked like he was trying his best to compete in a 100 mtrs freestyle race but he was the only one doing Breastroke
( which for non swimmers , is the slowest of the strikes) . At CHF his strength was his one bite marks but several opponents cleaned him up . He has the injury recovery phase ahead now but will that time gap aid improvement of his game either in the ruck or at ground level ? Dubious
Massive man. Great trier . His occasional one bite marks are great to see. If in front he generally kicks straight. Group level and ruck work are weaknesses imho
Cox is a massive magnet and looming threat to defenders , simply because he CAN take big marks and CAN kick straight at times . At ground level folk constantly seem to miss the positive knock ons and blocks
His ruck work is also under rated
One other real difference is that if Membrey plays and Checkers is out of the goalsquare contest with his direct opponent , opposition teams can’t be too distracted with swamping Cox because Membrey is two barrelled— he also marks and swoops like that leftie over the scoop and snap on the burst on Anzac Day
As Mitch says ..it’s Coxy

Long term CJ is right
In a yr our forward line might contain West, Hayes and Steene so we MUST expose them some time , just like we must expose Parker and TJ who looked good in patches in the VFL

Age and development must be measured sensibly hence my mention of Camo above. Did zip until 23
A VFL Pie ( was it Carmidy ?) looked a fair way ahead of our newbies but he was a few yrs older and had chased his footy development up to the NT
For some though there wasn’t much to see
Three years in , Ryan should hit a target with a kick out , inYr 2 Harry needs to hint at why he is there and I yr 3 you’d hope that Allen might sit down and self assess the answer to this question” I can get it 20+ times ( like Sidey etc) but why can’t I get clear ?”
As for Dean..physically he looks ideal . When moved out of the square he did get involved . How do others assess him ? Mobility up to scratch ?
Smit will take time
