The Effect of the penalties on Carlton were greatly magnified by two factors (a) the poor state of the carlton list at the time (b) some pretty horrible drafting and trading around the time. It's hard to just isolate the effect of the penalties from the effects of these factors.

The Penalties for Essendon are WAAAYYY too soft. Should be Double.
