Subject: parades

Couldn't sleep after 4 am today-went to bed too early last night.
Saturday we were to a charming parade in Mahone Bay,the town usually has 2000 people but for the classic boat festival the town swelled to at least 10,000 people so all the bed and breakfast places, inns , restaurants in the town and surrounding areas were absolutely filled but Ralston and I managed to get in a restaurant in a village called Western Shore, we had a big feed of scallops and fries, they were done just perfectly.
Today my 2 daughters and I are going to the city of Halifax, that city joins efforts with the city of Dartmouth on Natal day and combines their 2 parades as one, they parade through some streets of Halifax and continue accross the hugh bridge to Dartmouth and then through Dartmouth streets. It is usually a spectactular event.
Phyllis when I used to look after my granddaughters , once they reached the 1 yr and a few months they would play in a pan of water with their toy dishes for hours, even though I was right by them it gave me a sort of rest,I could sit on a rocking chair and watch.Even though one loves them dearly they can certainly tire one out.
Ellie I am so glad you have taken up cooking classes,it is not just the cooking it is the friends one makes at any classes, I took many night courses on lots of subjects and made lasting friendships..don't laugh, I even took belly dancing.Never used it after but it was fun.
I am taking advantage to these days that I am feeling back to "normal,if there is such a thing-lol" to once again run around doing all the things that in all probability will be my last chance at doing but one never knows what the future holds.
My thoughts are so often on those poor people who are trapped within a war and those who have been sent to fight it.So many lives ruined because of leaders who may or may not know what they are doing. The love ones who will never forget the ones who are killed.
We have been having some really beautiful weather , we deserve it after the rainy cool June we had, our summers are so short as it is, July was nice and if all August stays like this it would be wonderful and I am hoping the cool weather doesn't hit in Sept.but I do like October so very much when the leaves turn their beautiful colors, I hope I am going to be well enough to enjoy it this year.
Well I better scram and get ready for the trip to the city, it is only an hours drive from here but like a different world.
Have a great week ladies, Ellie you are a day ahead of us already-lol !

Hi Tina and Ellie,

Tina, Your trip on Saturday classic boat festival and parade must have been a lots of fun. Scallops are one of my favorite dishes to order especially if they come from a good restaurant.

How great that you are going with your daughters to enjoy more beautiful parades and celebration.

We are having beautiful weather this week too. I also like fall and especially the colorful leaves changing. Winter is not my favorite season because of all the snow, ice and freezing weather.

Ellie, If you get any good cooking tips and/or recipes please let me know. I run out of ideas and look forward to easy new main dishes.

Tomorrow(Wednesday)I will be watching Kaitlyn. I plan to take her for a carriage ride if we have a repeat of today's weather.

Have a good week.
Phyllis
