Oh Ellie it is so long since I had a nice culture fix, I envy you! Things have been rather dull around here lately.
Seems everything goes in cycles, a dull time and then there are too many events taking place a once.
I have had to "live trap" squirrels, we had so many in the yard that one or two even tried to chew the corner of my outside door to get in the house. The wildlife assoc says you have to take them at least 9 miles from home or they come back so I have been transporting them to a woods via a bridge that leads out of Mahone Bay.This is the 4th year that we have been overrun with the cute little critters. At the price of gas today I don't appreciate the 9 mile trips.
I just do not have the heart to kill them, I remember accidently running over one with my car some years back and instantly thought"ohthe poor little one won't be enjoying the beauty and fun of the woods, climbing trees and chasing other squirrels" So that is my reason for letting the little critters live, just don't want them living in my yard if they are going to keep on trying to get into the house.A few years back one could have burned us out of home,he/she bit through a 220 watt electric cable to my clothes drier, cost him his life and me over $100. a mericle there wasn't a fire. There are some beautiful oak trees on my lawn loaded always either on or underneath with accorns which are supposed to be their main source of food so why they try to get into the house is beyond me.
Have a great week.
