Subject: Update on My High School Reunion

Hi Ellie & Tina and other chat readers,

I had a great time at my reunion. One of my long time school and childhood friend's (she lived up the street from me when I was growing up) and her husband drove me and Michael (my ex) to the reunion. He had come to a reunion with me many years ago and I thought he might like to see some of my old acquaintances. There were around 120 people attending. Around 70 of them were actual from our class, the rest were invited guests. We had a cocktail hour from 5:30 - 6:30. Class pictures were taken at 6:45. One of our classmates owns a photography studio and he has taken the picture at each reunion and he has it developed that night and gives it to us for free. We had dinner at 7:00 - 8:00. Everyone has a small bowl of creamed soup, salad and main meal. Michael had prime ribs, with small red potatoes and carrots & broccoli. I choose the chicken dish which was served with rice. We had a tasty chocolate cake with whipped frosting for dessert.

After the meal we were entertained by a magic show. Then we held our traditional auction to raise money for our next reunion which is planned 2009. Some of the items auctioned off were paintings, handmade items, gift certificates and a watch. One picture of the Old Man of the Mountains in a beautiful frame went for $400.00. That was the most expensive item and there was a bidding war going on between 2 people at the same table. To top the evening off we had a live band called Rhumboogie playing a variety of music.

I was happy that I found one of my classmate that I had not seen for at least 30 years. We exchanged e-mails and I found out that she lives in Pembroke. We plan to get together so we can catch up on things. Some of my classmates I did not really remember but others I did. It was fun and I'm looking forward to the next reunion. I volunteered to help with the next one too.

I have had a busy week. We now have choir practice every other week too. Our church is having a Fall Flea Market and luncheon next month. I have several items to donate as I have been trying to work on things I have collected over the years in my spare room.

We are having beautiful weather and I hope everyone is doing well and you all have a good week and weekend.

Phyllis

Wow..sounds like you had a grand time at the re-union..good for you and so nice that you are helping organise the next one-great gal!!
Last Saturday night my oldest daughter Darlene had an "old hags pajama party for my birthday..we all had a great time..we did facials, played games, joked and ate..Curtis my youngest son "crashed"for a while..he came to the party in his pajamas which gave us quite a laugh but he only stayed an hour..we slept in sleeping bags across the living room floor -we ate so many goodies and for breakfast we had apple struddle made by one of my friends.I got lots of nice useful gifts, hand cream, body lotions, lip balm, books, fancy writing paper and rooster pictured tea towelsoh yes and some chocolate.
We are also having marvelous weather but very cool nights..I love walking through the dry rustling leaves but now deer hunting season starts this week end and it won't be safe to walk in the woods-darn it..but as cute as the deer are we have many too many..400 car accidents in Nova Scotia so far this year from deer running out of the woods or fields and running in front of cars. They are so quick you can't stop in time.
Tomorrow our time goes back one hour so it will be dark by supper time at 5 pm..and Sunday night is Hallowe'en.I have a lot of goodies bought to give to the kids when they come knocking at the door..I love to see the little ones in their costumes.
Must say bye for now--all the best to all.

[> [> Happy Belated Birthday Greetings Tina -- Phyllis, 18:44:44 10/30/04 Sat (dial-66-218-14-11.usadatanet.net/66.218.14.11)

Hi Tina,

Happy Birthday to you. Sorry to be late in sending you this greeting. I had it down that it was your birthday but must admit I forgot to send you best wishes on your exact date. You were busy having lots of fun. What a wonderful idea to have a pajama party. Your oldest daughter sounds like she is a lot of fun and has a great imagination- just like you. Your youngest son is a good sport too. You also received some very useful gifts.

I enjoy the fall weather very much too. I like walking through the leaves and have been raking and piling up quite a bit in the front area of my street. The city does pick up all leaves out front once during the early part of November. After that we have to bag all of them. I have several large trees in my back yard and one gigantic tree in the front side of my house. I have been doing some each day that the weather if good.

Sorry to hear about all the deers and the accidents they have caused. I love all creatures and do not want any harm to come to any of them. The animal channel is a favorite show of mine.

We are having about the same weather as you and we are changing our clocks back.

Here in New England we are celebrating the Red Soxs World Championship. I grew up with the Red Soxs as my father would always listen to them. I am watching a "Parade of Champions" on our local T.V. station taking place in Boston at Fenway Park this morning.

I have to buy more Halloween candy as I managed to open some that I have bought ahead of time and will need more now.

Have a good weekend and also Happy Halloween to all.
