Subject: Finally got my phone back!

Someone "forgot" to pay us for six weeks (several thousand dollars) and so I haven't had a phone (for about three). When we finally paid the phone account Telstra tells us that we can have local calls only because of our poor payment record (this is the first time the phones been disconnected in several years (and before it was when dh was a uni student and I was a SAHM), so dh and I spent most of yesterday afternoon ringing up other telecommunications providers (dh spent two hours dealing with Telstra - on the mobile). GRRRR!!!!! How do you run a business where you have to fax stuff long distance if you can't call long distance? Can I sue the idiots who didn't pay us for screwing up our credit rating?

Kylie

Oh Kylie.. what a mess.. Telstra are not known for being understanding. My boss had a similar experience to yours. I hope that you do find a better service provider, and things will be easier from now on.
Ellie.

Kylie sorry to hear about your troubles. I asked Rob your question about suing the people late in paying you and you won't like his answer, in short no, unfortunately. Rob says this is why most small business/self employed, work with a small overdraft to prevent this from happening. It doesn't look like you can do anything unfortunately. It's also not very fair for you either.
Glad you are back online though.

Kylie some banks will let you have an overdraft on your account if you explain to them your sometimes wait for customer payment. But you must remember restraint and not use it unless such a situation arrises again.
I don't even have credit cards because my "restraint"turns to mush if I see something I like and I know this tempting little morsel of an overdraft or a credit card is there.
When I go shopping I have to just take enough to cover my list..I get side tracked so easily.
I now always ask myself "can it live without buying this"but I don't always behave-lol
