Hi Tina & Ellie,

Today, Dec. 3rd we are in the middle of a Nor'Easter storm.
It started very late last night and all schools have been cancelled.

Tina, I am sorry that your chemo treatment made you sick and then on top of it all you did not get the sleep that you needed. I keep you in my prayers each day as you are such a joy to know. You are so kind to offer support to others who are going through chemo.

My brother-in-law had cancer of the lung and has been a cancer survior over 5 years. He received radiation at that time and continues with his check-ups. He does get tired at times but keeps busy and continues to take one day at a time. My older sister depends on him as they have no children and live 40 minutes from me and in the country. Winters are very difficult for them. I keep in touch with her and call her every day.

I am glad that you are enjoying your paintings. What are some of your favor pictures to paint?

My mother always kept busy with her beautiful handwork. She was housebound for many years but never complained. She had a wonderful sweet nature about her and never said anything bad about anyone. She could knit (European style), sew and crochet, unfortunately we (her daughters) were not gifted in that department.

Christmas will be here before we know it.
I am ordering my granddaughters (ones in Florida) gifts from a couple of catalogs (Young Explorers and Constructive Playthings)and they will ship it directly to them. Postage is expensive and it will save time and wrapping them up and going to the post office. Our post office is not nearby. I did buy my Christmas cards but have not started on them yet.

I had some more combination windows scheduled for delivery today for my tenant's upstairs apt in their porch. I decided to have them installed as the old windows in their porch were already rattling when the winds blows. I was surprised when they phoned this morning to say that they would be here. I thought the weather was too poor for any company to travel. I am glad that they came. I only have 6 more windows(in my apt and basement) in order to complete my whole house but will have to wait until next year.

I hope your weather is good for Wednesday night gathering and wish you lots of fun.

Bo is such a blessing for you and your husband. Please give Bo a hug from me.

Ellie, I enjoy your postings and know that you keep busy.

Wishing you both a good week.

Phyllis

Well we did get the tail end of it..5 inches of snow turned into lots of rain, it is 4:28 am Dec 4, you got it,I woke and can't get back to sleep. We are supposed to have alternate rain, snow ,wind today, I plan on shampooing my living room carpet today, I am lucky to have a good shampooer that shampoes and then sucks up everything quite dry.
Your tennants are lucky to have someone who cares of their comfort and windows are so expensive.
You mentioned your mothers talents, mine love to sew,she started in a hat shop in Medfield, Mass,USA,Edwin V. Mitchell Co. I have the letter written to her accepting her, dated January,1928, They used to like to hire Canadian girls from the Maritimes because they were known to be good workers. I keep the letter in a sweet little beaded purse sampler that she made there and I have the "sampler " hat she made for them,it is doll size and I keep it on a doll. There is a company logo picture on the letter and it is a picture of a quite large factory.
Un fortunately I hate to sew but years ago I did sew a lot of clothes for my children.
I like painting seascapes and nature landscapes.Mostly I love painting on location, that is where one does their best but in this weather that cannot be.
I am glad your brother has stayed reasonable well this long and wish him a good full life.
Oh I just noticed on the letter, the company my mother worked for was established in 1851 and incorporated in 1908, Mother was born 1906 and was 16 when she went there to work, She was 27 when she came home to Nova Scotia and met my father and married.Hope this bit of history doesn't bore you. Must say bye for now...lets hope for better weather, at least better driving and social gatherings-lol
Ellie I hope all is well with you, I watched the most amazing program on Australia early the other morning, oh I wish I was well and rich to visit, I would need a year or to to view your lovely , charming and mysterious country.Att least thank goodness I can get a "birds eye view" through watching Discovery and such programs.
