Subject: Still winter!
Hello Ladies..Still bitterly cold here, but I really shouldn't complain as I dislike intense heat more! The other day I was to go visit a friend and as I don't drive it means a tram, then bus to get to her place, well, early morning it started to rain and poured all day so we took a raincheck (lol) on my visiting. So yes, we are getting some good rain, enough I hope to help the water catchment areas.
Next Friday my little great grandaughter,Jemillah turns three, so on Saturday we are having a small birthday party for her;Lovely to see and be with the little ones.
Tina and Phyliss.. do you both read a lot? It's one of my favorite things to do, and winter is a great time to do it. I'm at the library every week, often more than once a week, and on these cold afternoons when chores are done, or I don't have to be out somewhere, I fill my hot water bottle and go to bed and read, it's a lovely, peaceful interlude that I enjoy very much.Usually my grey cat is sleeping on the end of the bed too!
Tina, you haven't mentioned Bo for a while. How is he?
Next Thursday a bunch of us from my work are going on a bus trip to look at three community gardens around our area, which should be intersting.. work related too, as I'm our community garden supervisor, though our 'patch' is very small, and most of the growing is done in pots.
Phyliss, hope all is going well with baby sitting your little ones.
Have a good week.
Hugs from Ellie.

Hi Ellie & TIna,
We are having beautiful comfortable summer weather. I too do not like hot humid days and prefer cooler weather. I do enjoy fall and winter only if we do not have too much snow and especially not fond of days where we have freezing rain. I do not like to drive in the bad weather. Luckily my daughter's house is only l l/2 miles from mine and the city usually keep the main road plowed.
Happy upcoming 3rd birthday to Jemillah and it is great you can celebrate with your family. Children are the sunshine of our lives.
Yes, I like to read and sometimes it is all I can do to keep us with the many magazine subscriptions I receive. One of my favorite is Prevention. I also like Woman's World, Family Circle, Ladies Home Journal. Our library is within walking distance in the good weather. Currently I am reading "Chicken Soup for the Sister's Soul".
I enjoyed going to a retirement party for one of my old bosses. She had worked over 30 years for the state of New Hampshire. She and her husband are relocating to South Carolina to be near her son and wife. That is her only child and she is hoping that she will become a grandmother in the future. I also saw 2 of my other former bosses at her party and some other retirees. It was great to catch up on what they had been doing.
Some of my projects this fall and winter is to sort and discard the many items, paper and etc. saved over the years. I have a lot of clothes that I will donate in the many bins we have throughout our city. I purchased a paper shedder and have not attempted to use it yet. I am good at procrastination, but there are so many other fun things to do. It seems that there is never enough time in the day.
How nice Ellie, that you are tending to the community gardens in your area.
Tina, I am thinking of you and imagine you are having good weather like we are. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Well gals, I should sign off as my sister will be coming over later this afternoon to visit.
Ashley will be 12 weeks old tomorrow and I will be watching her 3 days this week.
Phyllis

Thanks for asking about Bo. He is our sweetie, our clown, and
oh so loving. He understands just about our every move, like when we are getting ready to go someplace he is right there readyto go. We spell some things but he must understand our body language,Every 3 months I take him to the doggie beauty shop,I brush him daily but his hair grows quite long and its hot for him in the summer.
Jemillahs 3 years have gone so fast, happy birthday to the dear little one!
Books,Books Books...I have lived a thousand lives through books.Like magazines as well but my dad always said I was born with a book in my hand-lol
Lately I have been reading books by Ann Rule a former seatle police woman, her stories are real, her web address is www.annrules.com
I like true things mostly, some poetry.
A great week is wished for Both of you Ellie and Phyllis,
I am counting my days , just 7 more to operation day, my family has been taking me to lots of events or drives/restaurants. Could be our last times together...one never knows.
