Subject: Hello Ladies!

Tina, so good to hear you have been out and about and feeling well enough to do all those nice things, and you too Phyliss with pleasant outings. And me too, tomorrow my daughter and I are treating a dear friend to lunch for her 80th birthday. It was actually in late Oct, but she's such a busy woman even at 80, that this was the first date she could fit it in!
I've also been busy with writing events. We had our last Darebin Writers meeting for this year last Thursday night, and celebrated festively, Ordered in a large pizza, and people brought plates of food, and we had some wine and juice so it was a pleasant night.
Last Saturday I took a trip 3 hours drive up country with my daughtet, son-inlaw, son, and grandson, to a pretty country town called Avoca. The story behind it is that Pam and David, daughter/son/in law, had been given 2 free raffle tickets to win a block of land in Avoca, BUT you had to go there to register the tickets, you couldn't do it anywhere else! So it was a lot of driving, but nice visiting a pretty little country town, we did a lot of walking exploring the town, went to the river-- also called the Avoca, saw families of ducks swimming happily and looked at several preserved historical buildings.
We also looked at the block of land Pam and David may win!
Well. Tina, your question re heat was timely, as it was VERY hot yesterday, hottest day for 8 months.. and of course this will go on as it's not even officially our summer yet, still late Spring. My grey cat has very thick fur, and she sheds heaps, the ginger fellow has a thinner coat, and he doesn't so much. Usually when its really hot he goes outside somewhere and finds the shade of a tree or bush. She stays in and sprawls in front of the fan.
The 11th is also remeberance day for the war dead here. We oberve a minute's silence. Iwas at work, we were having a staff meeting but we stopped at 11am to observe the silence.
Well. must go for now, shopping day.. and books to go back to the library.
Hugs,
Ellie.

Hi Ellie & Tina,

Glad Ellie that you had a nice time on your trip with your daughter and son-in-law. I wish them luck in winning the block of land. It is always nice to be with family and to be a passenger so you could enjoy the scenery on the trip.

Your writing events must keep you busy. What is your favorite pizza? Pizza is one of my favorite dishes.

It is hard to imagine that you are having warm weather and more humid weather coming up while we are going into our fall season. I am not looking forward to winter this year as I have to travel to my daughter's house in all kinds of weather. It is dark so early now. At least I can see well since my cataract surgery.

It is good that you have 2 cats to keep you company. Growing up we always had a family cat. My daughter is allergic to cats so I cannot have one. I miss my dog but know that it would not make sense to have one at this time.

Thinking of you Tina and hope you and your husband are doing well.

Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be here. I plan to have Thankgiving dinner for my sisters and their husbands, my daughter & her husband and granddaughters, my ex-husband and one of my sister's college friend as she has not family in her area.

Take care,
Phyllis

Wowee on your heat. While we were at the war memorial on Nov 11 it hailed, snowed for about 15 minutes then the sun came out.We had 3 seasons of weather in one hour, lots of shivering people, the war memorial tower, built like a cross is in the center of a 3 way devided street,Zoe lays a wreath for her great grandfather "my father" and one for her dads father her "grandfather on that side of the family" It was in Mahone Bay and by the ocean, it is so very beautiful.
So nice that you had a trip with your family and interesting to find out how your kitties cope with the heat.
Phyllis our Thanksgiving is all over-you have a nice festive day coming up.
Ralston has been moverd out of the hospital but to a physiotheraphy place called Patterson centre where they hope to be able to teach him all over how to look after himself because they know that at present I cannot look after him. He has to be able to get out of bed by himself,do all bathroom duties, shower etc. and pull himself up from any chair..asll things to avoid lifting that I cannot do.
I had my chemo yesterday-yes they put me on the strong once a month caelyx "quite a dangerous one"you can hunt it up on the net. I am worried about the effects again.I put in a very hard month and thought they would not give me the same kind again. Anyway, today I am feeling quite well.
Hope you ladies have a great week-end and great next week.
