Yep paid around 3k last season. I’ve learned since then some states don’t even allow H&M at their state pageant. I also learned that none of those H&M people even have cosmetology license (yes I know they don’t need them in NC to preform that work) but years ago the girls used people with licenses. These pop up “professionals” are anything but professional. They see $$ and know people will pay it. Are they good at what they do? For the most part yes very talented but the cost is only that high because people are willing to pay it. (NT)No name08:04:58 03/31/26 Tue
A fool and their money are soon parted. Five rushed makeovers for $3500 is stupid. Especially since she is probably going to be handled by an assistant. (NT)No name10:45:10 03/31/26 Tue
So if you put the money for the makeup, clothing, hotel, food, tickets and the other items in the bank you would have more scholarship money available than you could earn. (NT)No name10:48:22 03/31/26 Tue
It it were me, I would spend a few hours watching a variety of videos on pageant makeup and hair, and then I would spend some time practicing my makeup and hair -- just like I would practice my talent, my walk, my interview preparation, and my workouts in the gym. Then, I would make a point of telling the judges in my interview that since this is a SCHOLARSHIP pageant, I spent the time learning how to do my own hair and makeup because as Miss North Carolina, I'm not going to have a hair and makeup person there every day to get me ready for my appearances. I would tell the judges how hard I worked to get ready for the JOB of Miss North Carolina. Also, I would remind them that I saved my money for SCHOOL. For that matter, I would borrow or rent my wardrobe so as not to break the bank, and I would tell the judges that I'm in it for the scholarship money, and that the sparkly crown would be an added bonus! Why say the pageant is about scholarship money when you are spending thousands for all this stuff? Save your money and get a part time job that equates to the hours spent representing Miss NC. Wouldn’t you come out ahead instead of losing money? (NT)No name12:25:06 03/31/26 Tue
Bet! Me paying $3500+ to be handed over to an assistant, who let me guess has been "helping" for a year at best. I would so put that MUA on blast so everyone would know and save their money. To pay someone that much money for makeup makes me question their sanity. I wouldn't do business with someone blatantly taking advantage of people. (NT)No name19:50:03 03/31/26 Tue
