Subject Author Date Yep paid around 3k last season. I’ve learned since then some states don’t even allow H&M at their state pageant. I also learned that none of those H&M people even have cosmetology license (yes I know they don’t need them in NC to preform that work) but years ago the girls used people with licenses. These pop up “professionals” are anything but professional. They see $$ and know people will pay it. Are they good at what they do? (NT) No name 10:48:22 03/31/26 Tue It it were me, I would spend a few hours watching a variety of videos on pageant makeup and hair, and then I would spend some time practicing my makeup and hair -- just like I would practice my talent, my walk, my interview preparation, and my workouts in the gym. Then, I would make a point of telling the judges in my interview that since this is a SCHOLARSHIP pageant, I spent the time learning how to do my own hair and makeup because as Miss North Carolina, I'm not going to have a hair and makeup person there every day to get me ready for my appearances. I would tell the judges how hard I worked to get ready for the JOB of Miss North Carolina. Also, I would remind them that I saved my money for SCHOOL. For that matter, I would borrow or rent my wardrobe so as not to break the bank, and I would tell the judges that I'm in it for the scholarship money, and that the sparkly crown would be an added bonus! Where's the fun in that? It's much more fun to put on a gorgeous gown and walk around with a. Rown on your head and be able to say that you are Miss North Carolina and get to go and just maybe....be Miss America. And if you're lucky, you win enough to replace the money you spent for the competition experience. If not, there's always that part time job at Dunkin Donuts. It's sheeple mentality. Unless a girl comes out looking like Baby Jane Hudson, I seriously doubt a title has been denied to her for her makeup.Plus, don't most of these girl's wear makeup in real life? So unless you are scaring the birds out of the trees when you walk down the street, you must be doing a somewhat adequate job. As long as you are not using your eyeliner as lipstick, you should be fine to save your money and do your own.
