Subject: I've always thought that asking reigning queens to provide anything was pretty tacky. If you are going to run a preliminary either be prepared to solicit sponsors or dig into your own pockets to keep the ship afloat. These girls entered a competition, spent money to compete, got a scholarship, usually that covers about one textbook, now they are being asked to buy something else at the end of the year. Bottom line, if you are not prepared to do the work necessary or cover any financial needs yourself, do not sign on to run a preliminary. Let someone else take the franchise.

In reply to: 's message, "It's pretty standard for the prelim to ask the outgoing queens to "sponsor" crowns, sashes, or crown boxes. It isn't usually required but requested." on 14:28:00 02/02/24 Fri

Its more crazy to me that you think its tacky. You clearly have never volunteered or helped with a preliminary!? This is a volunteer organization. Most directors work full time jobs and almost a second full time job dealing with queens, mamas and grandmas that sometimes can be hard to deal with for FREE! All because they believe in this organization and what it teaches and does for your daughters. Shell out money from their personal pockets? Find more sponsorship in all their "extra" time? Girl PLEASE! What the actual heck. You are ignorant and need to be more thankful what these directors and committee members do for your girls. A $65/$75 gift of a crown box to ease their burden is nothing in comparison to what they all poured into your child for an entire year! Shut up! (NT)No name19:03:35 02/04/24 Sun
