Dear K.R.,

I know you probably did your paper, but I really wanted to answer these questions. I just love test.

• Why do people choose to be anorexic? It is a quit weight loss plan, but a difficult plan. To acheive this rapid weight loss requires a renewing of the mind. It's not as simple as not eating. A lifestyle change is required, thus we (I) chose to adopt a philosophy of anorexia.
• Do pro-ana sites offer safe, healthy, and responsible tips for losing weight? Probably not, some people are willing to do unhealthy things to lose weight. Frequently using laxatives, vomitting, and things like that are not healthy. It's not hard to tell the difference between unhealthy tips, and healthy tips. Both are available on pro-ana sites.
• Are pro-ana sites actually there for other people's sake or just to find comfort for ones' self? I utilize them to find comfort for myself. I didn't look for this website with intents of helping others. I wanted to help myself.
• People were created to live/survive by eating, so why should people feel guilty for doing so? They shouldn't, but eating at the level that American society requires, is very unhealthy and irresponsible. Moderation is unappealing, and very confusing. Guilt is self induced. I place it on myself to avoid turning normal.
• From what I've read, anorexics often feel judged by society, but as a whole, do anorexics judge people that are overweight or those that overeat? Yes, I do. I see them as victims of the capitalist system. I don't neccessarily think they are bad, but I do judge them as conformist.
• Who are anorexics trying to look thin for? Everybody. I can't think of one person that I would like to be fat for.
• Are you happy? Does starving yourself make you feel happier or more fulfilled? Yes, it is a great sense of accomplishment. Starving requires more discipline than anything I have ever done. (Considering that I'm a former Marine, that says a lot.) It's definitely something to be proud of.
• Why are anorexics not happy with themselves/their bodies without being extremely thin? Nobody else is. Cowokers want to make jokes about my belly and stuff like that. People that haven't seen you in a while say, "you've gained weight". It doesn't appear to be a compliment. If I become thin nobody will say hurtful things to me about my lack of discipline. Possibly I'll get comments on my weight loss.
• What do anorexics find attractive? I think that's irrelevant.
• Why do anorexics never feel thin enough? I will, when I reach 118 pounds. That's my goal.
• What is the purpose of pro-ana sites? What are they trying to achieve? Any discipline, such as religion, requires support. Starving is very tough. It is crucial to have support. Sometimes it's the difference between failing or not failing. You can do it on your own, but it's easier when you hear encouragement from others.
• Do you honestly feel like pro-ana sites are safe? No, as humans we know what's safe, and what's unsafe. Some people chose unsafe things.
• Do you feel like anorexics are perceived incorrectly by society? Absolutely, but it isn't a shocker. Our society teaches over-indulgence. "Spend more money, if you don't have enough, charge it." "Want to supersize it?" "What options do you want with that car?" Capitalism doesn't welcome discipline. Discipline is a threat to the capitalist system.
• Are you honestly satisfied with yourself as an anorexic? Yes
• What do you hope to accomplish by being anorexic? Becoming 118 pounds again.
