Subject: need ID help

this plant is acrossed the street from lowels.last summer i got some seeds off it and need info on that.
this is a sketch,the writing isnt all that readable so ill say it here:
it looks green from a distance,but up close you see a woddy brown stem with green leaves running the length of the stem.

any ideas are appreatiated.
