His argument holds plenty of water (and more) considering the teams transition into the mid-con meant jumping from DII to DI. Big difference there and how you figure otherwise I will never know. Kampe did not have the caliber of player that he does now so yes he did start from scratch.

P.S. to you. About the teams being so good back then by your own logic we can say that VU did not start dominating until the league got considerably weak.
