We have some new players to join Megan and Co. this year. Check this out. It seems that there's a St. Mary's connection here. How come it seems that's all we get from the SJAA? Where's Lodi? Where's Stinkin' Lincoln? Where's Stagg? Where's Tracy? (Okay, Tracy's not in the SJAA anymore, but they should be!) Anyways, it looks like we're ok for next year's run at putting up another banner.

PACIFIC BRINGS IN TWO PLAYERS FOR LATE SIGNING PERIOD

STOCKTON, CALIF. --- University of the Pacific Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Jayne McHugh announced today the signing of Susan Drollinger. The Tigers also will have Kristen Kalend joining the 2002 team.

Drollinger, is a 6-3 middle blocker from Rim of the World High School in Arrowhead, Calif. Drollinger, was Second-Team All-League in her junior season and received the Coaches Award. She was the co-captain of the team in 2000. She played with Rancho Valley in Club Volleyball in 1999 and 2000. She helped lead that team to a 16-1 record and was named the team’s Most Improved Player in 2000. During that time she also helped lead the Rancho Valley team to a 20th place finish at the Volleyball Festival and 16th place at the Kickoff Classic.

Kalend, is a 5-7 libero from St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, Calif. Kalend was named All-Conference by the Stockton Record and was First-Team All-League. She was the team captain for both the Delta Valley 17 Club Team and the St. Mary’s High School team. Her club team was the 18’s Division Champions at the Davis Festival. In 2000 she helped lead St. Mary’s to a runner-up finish in the state championship, as well as the Division I NorCal Championship.

"We are really excited about the two newest members of our team," said McHugh. "Susan will add size and power at the net, while Kristen should see action and make immediate impact at the libero position. However, most importantly, they are wonderful young women and will be great additions to the Pacific campus."

Drollinger and Kalend are the third and fourth members of Pacific’s freshman class going into the 2002 season.
