Subject: Bay Area Teams Aren't Scared; It's Economics
In reply to: Jon Ralston 's message, "Re: New Year's Schedule: A Wish List" on 09:26:54 03/19/02 Tue

The Bay Area teams aren't scared of us. They want to make money on each and every game. Cal averaged 10,000 fans per home game. We averaged 3,000. That's why they bought out the contract. That's why they play a home-and-home with New Mexico, not us. Stanford averaged 6,000 fans per home game.

Arizona State (7,000) and Washingfton (6,500) are also unlikely candidates for a home-and-home. Only Washington State (2,300) is in our attendance league and who wants to go to Pullman. Get Oregon State (6,000) with Ricci for Stockton next year and give them one the following year.
