Well I know if its the card kind they do not give you cash for the remainder. I have like 10 cent on a card once and they wouldnt just give me the cash. If you return something bought with a giftcard they put it back onto a giftcard. In the state of California gift cards can never expire its a state law. But I dont know where you live. The only thing i can think of to get rid of the card is to give it as a gift to someone else.
