Variety Gold Pins
Variety - the Children's Charity launched the Gold Heart Pin in Great Britain in 1991 and has since raised more than $100 million to help children around the world challenged by poverty, violence, neglect, and physical disability. This unique fundraising program centers around the sale of a $2 Gold Heart Pin, the international symbol of love, hope, and variety - the Children's Charity. Each year the collectible pin takes on a new design and a new slogan, but the symbol remains the same; as does our motto, "Wear your heart on your sleeve to show you care for kids."
The Gold Heart Pin has become Variety's greatest fundraising endeavor worldwide. Tents throughout the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Israel, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, South Africa and the Channel Islands participate in the month long campaign which revolves around Valentine's Day.
To promote the Gold Heart Pin campaign in the United States, major Hollywood motion picture studios provide more than 1,800 retail and 6,400 theatre screens nationwide with exciting point-of-purchase displays, posters, counter cards, in-theater slides, film trailers and print advertisements. Additionally, many local radio stations and cable channels support their local Tents by airing gold Heart Pin public service announcements during the campaign.
