This guy had earmarks of being an NFL player, being the son of one. I'd say he's in a similar boat as Simpson was, not lacking certain attributes but either not being able to assimilate offense(s) easily enough or beat out another one-dimensionalish (i.e. non-stellar blocking) player ahead of him (albeit Gresham was picked a year after him). Maybe he's just a dumbass, although not a malicious one?

In Brat's O, he would have needed to be an ace blocker foremost to be the backup TE/OT, which obviously he wasn't. Once they spent a #1 on Gresham, he wasn't going to beat him out for the #1 job there. Given the street stiffs, rejects & nobodies that they HAVE utilized instead of him & the fact of a different scheme now in year 3, I'd also think that he & the TE position coach perhaps didn't mesh so well either?

He kept landing on the practice squad here for 3 years now (seems like he was hurt in Y1, his ankle maybe?), so anyone else in the league could have had him & they didn't call. I'm thinking he's not eligible now so they decided to move on & give him his last full shot in another system, from jump? If he's anything other than camp fodder in TB then that's the answer ...
