Subject: not true at all regarding ol' roy
In reply to: CHB 's message, "Is it just me or does Zeller looks like a 7ft version of Kenney Parcell?" on 13:35:46 02/09/12 Thu

Remember that it was Roy that recruited that team consisting of Danny Green, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson - all great three point shooters by the time they were done. And currently, he has Reggie Bullock, PJ Hairston and Leslie McDonald (out for season) who all had a rep for long range shooting. Granted, our game is totally inside out - and should be given our front line - but we still shoot a decent amount of threes.

It was different with dook because they guard against the three as zealously as they shoot from it - so the percentage play was the interior. And look, it wasn't our offensive efficiency that beat us last night.

Regarding Strickland, he's an interesting case. He was known as a decent shooter in high school but came to UNC with a pitiful hitch in his shot. Butt ugly, line drive type shots. He was absysmal from the outside up until this year. Any three pointer made was pure luck. His saving grace was that he's a slasher and scored most of his points at the rim.

He opened this season, not looking for his outside shot at all. When he set up, it was inside the line. But he gradually moved out to 12 feet with his shots, then 15 feet and then 18 feet - and was pretty proficient an gaining confidence with his shot. Then he blew out his knee.
