but is there not any merit to the notion that one must at least to some extent interpret overall themes in making judgments on those things that could not possibly have been thought of by our forefathers? I do understand that once again we are dealing with a slippery slope which will inevitably lead to some abuses, but what's the trade-off?

By the way, this post and the one previous were very entertaining, in an edifying sort of way.
