Ummmm....well I know it's tough but, ummmm.....we got spanked when we played a real team with some ummmmm....big men. Poor little Davie ummmmm......couldn't hang with those ummmmmm......big boys from ummmmmmm....Maryland. I had to run back to the ummmmm.... locker room and try to ummmmmm....get Davie to stop crying and ummmmmmm....come back out on the court and ummmmmmmm.....show a little bit of ummmmmm....class. He said "Class, I've never taken one at Xavier". I said "ummmmmm....no Davie. I mean ummmmmmm....shake the Maryland players ummmmmm....hands and tell them ummmmmm....good game. The way they ummmmmmm....abused your ass it's the ummmmmm....least you could do. He told me he'd always been a whinning ummmmmm....punk and he'd always be a whinning ummmmmm....punk. Oh well ummmmmm....that Davie for you. I wish ummmmmm...we could have played Fordham or ummmmmmmm.....Duquesne. Davie seemed to always do ummmmmm.... better against that ummmmmm.... level of ummmmmm....talent.
We'll be ummmmmm....back next ummmmmmm.... year. We've got a ummmmmm....great recruiting class ummmmmm.... coming in next ummmmmm.... season. The kid from ummmmmm...Ryle is listed as the ummmmm.... 175th best player in ummmmmm... Northern ummmmmm... Kentucky. We beat out ummmmmm.... Eastern Kentucky and ummmmmmm... Thomas More for this ummmmmm....sleeper. He'll be great with the ummmmmmm... kid no one has ever heard of from ummmmm...Indiana with the ummmmmm... bum knee.
Oh man ummmmmmm... has Clemson ummmmmmm.... called yet? How about ummmmmm... Georgia? Anyone? Please God ummmmmm....anybody?

We at the Naismith Award Committee would like to take this opportunity to congratulate TJ Ford, from the University of Texas, on winning this prestigious award. We at the committee felt obligated to give the award to someone who has played at a high level of Division 1 against the top competition. We did not feel the award would be represented that way by giving it to someone who plays in high school gyms against 6-5 power fowards and puts up 20 points against guys with wielding degrees. Plus it helps to give the award to someone people around the country have actually seen play before. Congratulations Mr Ford on this honor.

In a shock move, Ugzavier hoops coach Thad Martyr today resigned his post with the niversity citing academic fraud, booster payments and gay behavior by boosters as his reasons. Beyond saying "I've had it with these mid-major wannabe's" Martyr refrained from comment to the media.
Martyr was, however, overheard explaining to his butt-boy LH, "I can't stand all this cheating. Sister Rose slides these dumb asses though her academic assembly line and they're going to get caught! I won't be the one to take a fall for all this crap."
Appearing at a local tractor pull, he was overheard lamenting that local booster and known idiot, LH,was 'running his mouth about us making the sweet 16", and that "that kind of stuff just doesn't happen. Talk about pressure!"
An evening eport circulated by the Ugzavier student newspaper, The Gay Muskie Times, stated that LH also paid for David West's sex change operation which took place midway through the season. Reports had West undergoing the operation during the second half of the Richmond gane, when he disappeared.
As for recruits that had committed during the early signing period, Billy Bob from Ryle said "damn right I'm comin'. Ain't noone else gonna scholly me!" Indianapolis star and 176th ranked senior dick head said he would attend Xavier, cause he liked "lookin up in the stands and seein' all those homos in their blue blazers and penny loafers."
More later when Martyr's resignation is confirmed. In the meantime, hahahahahahahahahahahah Sweet 16? Oh, please hahahahahahahahah........

It has been apparent now for some time that UC’s Basketball Program is not an Elite Program. What is now also obvious is that UC’s “glory years” are behind them. Below is a list of streaks that came to a crashing halt this season for UC.
- Consecutive seasons winning the CUSA title.
- Consecutive seasons winning at least 25 games.
- Consecutive seasons winning at least 20 games.
- Consecutive seasons making at least the second round of the NCAA’s.
- Consecutive seasons with a first round bye in the CUSA Tournament.
While we all know that UC is no longer the “top dog” in the 8th best conference in the USA, it has come as a devastating shock to many UC fans to realize that this year will be the rule rather than the exception. UC has nothing back from an at best crappy team this year. Their best recruit (a rapist, no less) may declare for the NBA if he is not back on trial for rape. The “glory years” of getting upset in the second round are gone for UC. They must settle for bubble talk and first round losses. Most knew UC was a fraud, now their own fans must swallow this harsh reality. Gone are the days where UC can crap away #1 seeds and lose in the second round (a feat rarely matched). Gone are the day of UC dominating the 8th-9th best conference. Gone are the days of second round upsets. Gone are the days of 20 win seasons.
Huggins days are numbered at UC as well. He will be gone soon enough, either by taking over a better program (not than any well respected school would hire the sleaze), retirement or death. Huggins is the program. He gave up on his team this year. With nothing back, expect him to not give a damn again. UC’s “glory days” of beating up on crap teams and bowing out of the NCAA’s early are a thing of the past. Bring on the 17 win and 12 loss seasons. UC fans can’t wait.

I'm sorry you don't have anybody to argue with, but I can't afford to spend any more time playing this silly game with you. I have a job to do and mouths to feed.
Mid Major status is dictated by conference affiliation. If that were not the case there would be absolutely no reason for the article that you posted to be written. I agree with you and Mark Few that Gonzaga has all the credentials and success that a Major program has had.
It may not be accurate or fair, but you are what conf. you're in.
"He's right, but the problem is there has to be some sort of separation to breakdown the programs that do have the dough, the television exposures and the major conference cache from the teams and leagues that get their 15 minutes of fame for a game or two in March. But therein lies the problem, if you can even call it one, for Gonzaga."
I'll repeat from the Quote "there has to be some sort of separation to breakdown the programs". Unfortunately for the Gonzagas of the world it is conf. affiliation.
Take this selection from the article.
Some A-10 schools, like Xavier and Temple, clearly compete for some of the top talent in the nation. But others like Fordham and Duquesne of late would probably be more successful playing in a mid-major league like the MAAC
They make the point that the A-10 is borderline between major and mid major status, but the espn contract has pushed them over the edge to major status. To that end, your point was that Fordham and Duquesne are mid major. The article states they "would probably be more successful playing in a mid-major league like the MAAC". They are not in a mid-major conf although they have the credentials. They are not mid-major because they are in the A-10. They are not considered candidates for any midmajor poll, even if they were good enough, because they are not in a mid major conf.
Mark Few states ""All everyone wants to focus on is the league, the facilities and how much money your league produces. What I say is, evaluate the program and what they have done.".
Mark Few is obviously very aware of what defines a Mid-Major school and is not happy about it. Again maybe not fair or correct, but to quote your article "there has to be some sort of separation to breakdown the programs that do have the dough, the television exposures and the major conference cache from the teams and leagues that get their 15 minutes of fame for a game or two in March".
The last part of the article
"The NCAA Tournament and regular season television games remain the great equalizer. So, far, Gonzaga is the only school to move up to high-major status without jumping to a high-level conference. But that won't stop the masses from still calling them a mid-major.
Few just won't listen.".
As I have agreed Gonzaga has high major credentials but until they move to "a high level conference" they will still be in the Mid-Major Poll and be considered a Mid-Major.
In the long run it doesn't matter what they are called. Being labled mid major does not prevent them from being ranked or seeded appropriately in the tournament. They can recruit and be seen on TV. Their conf. can hurt them by pulling down their rpi and not providing good competition during the season. This obviously hasn't been the problem in recent years.
I hope you don't agree with me. That would make me happy.

- Flash!! Ugzavier becomes second Anal 10 team to shut down season!! -- The voice of the world, 13:21:22 03/05/03 Wed (NoHost/216.68.29.113)
Anal ten powerhouse ugzavier today announced that they too would shut down their season as speculation on academic fraud at ugzavier spread throughout the basketball world.
The Anal 10 has long been known for producing standout teams such as Fordham, UMass and St. Bonaventure in addition to recently successful teams such as Dayton and Ugzavier of Ohio.
Recently, however, the Anal 10 has been known for producing teams that dabble in gambling, thuggery and academic fraud. Just this week, after allegations over the usage of an illiterate player surfaced at St. Bonaventure, coach Jan Van Bredakoff, elected to shut down their season rather than make an even bigger laughing stock of an already horrible conference.
Now, reports are surfacing that link Romaine Sato with academic impropriety. Speaking on condition of confidentiality, former Ugzavier Coach Skip Prosser told ESPN that "There's no way that fuck should be eligible. He can't even say cat in English, much less spell it. That nun they have over there, God bless her, is running the biggest scam on academic integrity I've ever seen!" He further stated the obvious "Why do you think I got out of there?"
Head Coach Thad Motor, interviewed at wal-Mart , where he was buying a new suit, just hours before the press conference announcing the end of his teams' season said "Well golly, we don't do anything wrong here at ugzavier, and I take exception with anybody that says we does. Alla my plarz speek good English, and hells bels, Ptomaine is the smartest guy on the team. Sheit, half of 'em can't even spell their own names."
Informed sources say that Matta will likely step down, clearing the way for him to take a higher profile job at Northeast Alabama, though Matta disputes this. "hell no, I won't go. I got it dicked here. We play a soft schedule, we don't demand academic integrity and we damn sure don't worry about drug testing."
John Chaney, Temple coach was saddened, but not surprised by events unfolding at ugzavier, commenting "Well what a surprise. They keep graduating idiots like Tyrone Hill, Byron Larkin, Brian Grant and we're not supposed to wonder what they are up to? Shit, at least the Posey kid could spell ugzavier." Chaney also speculated that "With ugzavier dropping out, we may not get anybody in to the Big Dance. Well, the A 10 is shit, so it's justified."
Tune in later for more on this developing story............

I was listening to the Xavier UD game on the radio while I was out driving around on Saturday. Great win by the way. If you don't have any let downs you should have a nice seed in the tourney.
Anyway, I switched over to the sports animal after the game, and there was some national sports talk show on. Don't know who or what network it was, but they were running some of the days scores and then they put up this classic.
In a huge battle between MID-MAJORS, Xavier University defeats The University of Dayton. They went on to say, "I wouldn't want to run into either of those teams in the first round".
No respect

The NCAA announced today it was rescinding that A 10 automatic bid to the field of 64 due to a general malaise among real conferences regarding the A 10, and what one NCAA official termed a "lack of quality teams" in the "rapidly declining conference".
Dick Vitale, of hoops juggernaut ESPN, speaking from his home in Durham, NC, said " Well it is obvious that there is nobody in the A 10." Ugzavier is a pretender, Dayton is too white and Temple and UMass just plain suck."
Vitale also said "If ugzavier weren't so gay, they'd make a good fit for the WAC."
Coach Thad Motor declined comment, as he was changing the oil on his tractor, but his wife,Thelma Lou, interviewed at the local smorgasboard said "well shit, don't that beat all. Just when we was making headway recruitin in eastern Kentucky this happpens. Now we'll have to settle for second tier players."
Former ugzavier student athlete and current guest of New Jersey, Lloyd Price, was upbeat, saying " pay your fee and get your B at ugzavier of the NIT Now lewt me out of here so I can rob and steal some more."
Billy Packer said " who the fuck is ugzavier anway.?"

1) If you win consistently in the 8th or 9th best conference you are not mid major. NOT CORRECT
Why? Because if you are in the 8th or 9th best conference your are a major. It doesn't matter how many games you win or lose.
I AM CORRECT. THINGS CHANGE FROM YEAR TO YEAR AND THAT IS WHY CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY. FORDHAM AND ECU ARE INDEED MID-MAJOR. ECU MAY NOT BE NEXT YEAR IF THEY CONTINUE THEIR SUCCESS. JUST LIKE A TEAM MAY FALL FROM ELITE STATUS TO MAJOR STATUS LIKE A UNC, TEAMS CAN FLUXUATE BETWEEN MAJOR AND MID-MAJOR. OBVIOUSLY FORDHAM AND UC ARE NOT IN THE SAME CATEGORY NOR IS ECU WITH XU.
2)Fordham and ECU are not mid majors for the reason above. Fordham, if they were a mid major would not be in the mid major top 25 because they really suck however. ECU would be in the top 25 if they were a mid major but they are not because they are a major.
THE MID-MAJOR POLL BY ESPN TRACKS THE TOP 10 MID-MAJORS. ECU IS NOT ONE OF THEM. GO TO THE UNCC BOARD AND LOOK FOR THEIR THREADS ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT UNCC IS MID-MAJOR.
3) As I have said perception is not fact. Winning in the tournament is the ultimate goal, but going out before expected does not change the FACTS. Losing one game does not change a team. If you think they were over rated, I can live with that maybe they were. Doesn't take away from their great season. They still won all the games that they won.
NO ONE IS TAKING AWAY FROM UC’S GREAT REGULAR SEASON ANYMORE THAN I WANT TO DEVALUE THE FACT THAT XU WON 26 GAMES LAST YEAR. THEY ARE EACH GREAT. TEAMS HOWEVER ARE ULTIMATELY REMEMBERED FOR HOW FAR THEY ADVANCED IN THE NCAA. TEMPLE WENT TO THE ELITE 8 RECENTLY AND BARELY MADE THE FIELD. THE NEXT YEAR THEY WERE A 2 SEED AND LOST IN THE SECOND ROUND. WHICH YEAR DO YOU THINK TEMPLE FANS REMEMBER MORE FONDLY?
4) As I've said before most people 5-10 years from now will not remember who was the runner up in the NCAA Championship game much less care if UC won 30 games. IU did have a better season it was fantastic.
Again it's irrelevant. I don't care how teams will ultimately be judged.
YOU SHOULD CARE. WHO WAS THE RUNNER UP IN THE 1979 NCAA’S. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THEN YOU ARE NOT A COLLEGE BASKETBALL FAN. I DO NOT THINK MOST PEOPLE REMEMBER REGULAR SEASON ACCOMPLISHMENTS OVER NCAA ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
I'm just here to show you that you were wrong on a few points and that you are arguing about perception and things that cannot be measured.
I HAVE NOT BEEN WRONG. I JUST DON’T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND.

NOTE: The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Continent, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Sun Belt, West Coast.
I dont see a10 or CUSA any where in there. This is what constitutes a mid major in college basketball. Check it out.
http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/
Again I don't care what peoples perception or judgements about a team from years past. People with less knowledge of the game will cling to the simple and that is who won the championship. People who know the sport will know more about the individual teams and players.
You want to talk about success in the tournament then lets stop talking about ecu fordam and IU and focus on x and UC, because as you say the tournament is what determines the success of a team 10 times more than the regular season.
I'll use numbers because you can measure them unlike opinion and perception.
How far do you want to go back. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and include the numbers back to 1990 so we can throw x's sweet 16 into the stats.
That would be 13 years of tournament results. A fair sampling from a statistical standpoint, and we get to ignore those horribly skewing numbers from the 60's.
Appearances during that time
x=8 or a .615% rate of making the dance
UC = 11 or a .846% rate of making the dance
23% more appearances than x
In that 13 year span
x won 6 games
UC won 18 games
That would make UC 3 times better than x during that span.
x won .428% of their games
UC won .620% of their games
A 20% difference plus x has a losing record in the tournament. That hurts.
Lets break it down by decade. 90's
appearances
x =6 or 60%
UC=8 or 80%
20% more appearances than x
What does this mean you ask?
x was 5-6 during the 90's for a .455%
UC was 14-8 during the 90's for a .636%
For just a minor .181% difference in winning pct.
You say big deal that's pretty close. Let's break it down.
The .455% record in the tournament ranks x at # 68 for the decade. UC's .636% ranks them at 19. That is a huge difference.
You don't like percentages then lets look at wins in the decade. x had 5 wins in the decade which puts them at a smoking #38. UC win total puts them at #11
But no he screams that's going to far back. Well okay lets look at the 2000's when x has done better and UC has faltered.
Appearances
x=2 or .666%
UC=3 or 100%
34% more appearances than x
Wins
x=1 or .333%
UC=4 or .571%
24% better
Again what does it mean
A .333% ranks x at #64 tied with many
A .571% ranks UC #30
1 win ranks x at # 39
4 wins ranks UC at #15
By the standard you set-performance in the tournament -they aren't even close.
Speaking of UNCC they have the same tournament record in the 00's that Xavier has.
I do remember but I don't really care. I got to see both of them play in person that year.
In 1990 was Georgetown over ranked because they lost to a lower ranked x who then went on to prove they were over ranked by losing to an unranked Texas in the sweet 16. As I guess was the case when #23 x lost to unranked Washington in 98.
Your problem is your thinking and of course you think you're not wrong.

- Understand? -- LH, 16:29:51 01/02/03 Thu (bm-csc1.lenscrafters.com/208.255.68.3)
One of the big factors you decided not to incorporate in your ignorant post is conference affiliation. Any team outside of Gonzaga (currently) that resides in a conference that consistently, year after year, only receives one bid to the NCAA's has to be considered Mid-Major. Butler is a good example of this.
Then you state
Some teams in both the A10 and Conference USA are indeed Mid-Major.
You set a rule and then break it. If they are in a conference that is not mid-major how can they be mid major all of the sudden.
NOT TRUE. CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY. IF YOU WIN CONSISTENTLY IN THE 8TH OR 9TH BEST CONFERENCE THEN YOU ARE NOT MID-MAJOR. IF YOU CONSISTENTLY LOSE LIKE ECU AND FORDHAM YOU ARE MID-MAJOR. UNDERSTAND?
You use ESPN's mid major poll exclusion of X as proof that they are not Mid-major, but some of these teams in C-USA and the A10 that you feel are Mid major are not in that poll either.
THEY ARE NOT IN THE POLL BECAUSE THE POLL IS FOR TOP MID-MAJORS. UAB, ECU, FORDHAM, ETC ARE NOT TOP MID-MAJORS. UNDERSTAND?
You are correct that UC has had a history of choking in the tournament often to a lower seed. Your assumption that UC was over ranked because of this is short sighted and fails to get past the simple. The reason a team gets seeded and ranked is due to accomplishments during the season. There is no better way to judge a teams ability than to look at how they did over a 25-30 game season. If teams always played up to their ability there would be absolutely no reason to play the tournament. Just seed the teams and award the tournament to the highest seed.
THERE IS A BETTER WAY TO JUDGE A TEAM AND THEY HAVE IT. IT IS CALLED THE TOURNEY. UC IS OFTEN OVERRATED BEATING UP ON WEAK COMPETITION ON THEIR WAY TO 25 WINS. HOW GOOD THEY ACTUALLY ARE IS EXPOSED IN THE TOURNEY. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE OVERRATED. UNDERSTAND?
Another point that you make over and over is that a team success is ultimately hinged upon their performance in the tournament. This is obviously not true. Nobody would say that the results of one game changes the entire accomplishments of an entire season. That is the same thing as stating x's season sucked because they lost to Stanford. One game does not make you a good or bad team. It certainly doesn't help to lose in the second round, but it's not a tragedy either.
SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU BUT NO ONE OTHER THAN UC FANS WILL REMEMBER THAT UC WON 30 GAMES LAST YEAR 5-10 YEARS FROM NOW. UC WON MORE GAMES THAN IU BUT IU HAD THE BETTER SEASON. IT MIGHT NOT BE FAIR BUT THAT IS HOW TEAMS ARE ULTIMATELY JUDGED. UNDERSTAND?
If X had won a NC 40 years ago I'm sure there would be plenty of people that would care about it just like there are plenty of Lasalle fans that care about their NC.
CARING IS ONE THING BUT CALLING YOURSELF ELITE ON 40 YEAR OLD ACCOMPLISHMENTS IS ANOTHER. DUKE IS ELITE AND UC HAS NOT BEEN ON THAT LEVEL SINCE THE 1960’S. UNDERSTAND?
What's the point?
THAT’S MY POINT.

A big part of your problem is that you are worked up about Xavier being called a mid major. By definition they are not and neither is ECU or Fordham, Understand.
Gonzaga is a MID MAJOR as is Creighton.
It is all about conference affiliation.
They are not in the poll because they are not mid majors. UNDERSTAND.
Answer this question
Would you rather go .500 in the A-10 regular season and lose in the A-10 conference tournament championship game?
or
Would you rather win every regular season game in the A-10 and lose in the first round of the Conference tournament?
Perception is not fact. The perception that IU had a better season because they made it to the final is irrelevant.
5-10 years from now very few people will know who played for the 2002 NCAA Championship much less care.
Never said that it was right or fair to use a 40 year old NCAA championship as criteria for elite status. Just pointing out that you were incorrect in your statement.

I don't think it's important that what category you throw the teams into. What is important is what kind of schedule you play(SOS), how many games you win (winning pct.), rankings ( AP, ESPN etc... important for recognition and recruiting), and tournament success.
Labels only matter for the sake of an argument.
As for history, you don't need to go to ancient history. Looking back on the last 10 years or 5 years or 3 years ( it doesn't matter), there are only a handful of teams that have a winning percentage as high as UC ( if that many), with as high a SOS.
You are correct that UC has had a history of choking in the tournament often to a lower seed. Victim to seek $1M from former UC player
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
By Kimball Perry
Post staff reporter
Former University of Cincinnati basketball player Donald Little, who
admitted he beat a former roommate April 1, won't be sentenced next week as
planned -- because he needs to play professional basketball in Europe so he
can pay a $1 million demand from the victim of the attack.
"I didn't want to make this public," said Little's attorney, Ted Froncek.
Froncek acknowledged Little is playing professionally in Europe and won't be
in Cincinnati for sentencing. Little pleaded guilty in October to aggravated
assault, a charge with a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison.
Little and his cousin, Porfirio Baldwin, who pleaded guilty last week to the
same charge, admitted they stabbed and hit Justin Hodge because Little
suspected Hodge had something to do with the disappearance of $2,500 in cash
from Little's bedroom.
Little and Hodge were roommates, and Hodge claimed Little knocked one of his
teeth out during the attack.
Now, Froncek confirmed, Hodge's attorney, Edison Hall of Cleveland, is
threatening to file a civil suit against Little on Hodge's behalf -- unless
Little forks over some major cash.
"He calls and gives me kind of a fast rush in the personal injury matter. He
says, `Time is of the essence and I'd be willing to settle this before it
goes to court, but I'm not going to talk to you for anything less than a
million dollars.' He was kind of rude and abrasive," Froncek said.
"I don't want to discuss the personal injury case," Hall said Monday.
Froncek wanted to look at Hodge's medical bills and records from the
incident, dental records and -- if claims by Hodge that he is suffering from
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome are accurate -- his psychiatric records.
But Froncek said Hall refused, saying he wanted to talk to Little's
professional sports agent, not his lawyer.
The 6-foot-11 Little, who would have been the Bearcats' starting center this
year, was kicked off the team following the Hodge incident.
Little, 23, graduated from UC, but had one year of athletic eligibility
left. He played for a touring pro team this fall before going to Europe,
where he reportedly is earning a six-figure salary.

Yesterday some UC fan posted numerous times 100 line posts that spelled out something anti Xavier. I deleted all of those posts - b/c it would have taken people minutes to read any other posts and banned him. This is a smack board - this is not a 7year old board. I have no problem with anti Xavier posts - I do have a problem with someone trying to wreck the board. Byron is the name of the person and he stated in an email that he would like to fight me - well since I don't fight little girls - have fun fighting yourself. Byron - email me at pabloxu@aol.com if you would like to discuss this more - in the meantime - feel free to email your anti xavier posts and I will post them here for you, but since you are a little girl - I cannot trust you enough to unban you since you will probably clog the board once again. Go Xavier!!!

UC-XU handshake tiff ends

Stokes clarifies his comments
By Bill Koch
The Cincinnati Enquirer
It turns out that some Xavier basketball players did shake hands with University of Cincinnati players after the Crosstown Shootout on Saturday.
After XU's 50-44 win over UC, Bearcats senior Leonard Stokes complained that Musketeers players didn't shake hands with Cincinnati players.
But Monday, Stokes said that both Lionel Chalmers and Romain Sato shook his hand. UC guard Taron Barker also confirmed that at least three XU players shook hands with him after the game.
In the post-game press conference, Stokes said that the Musketeers' refusal to shake hands was "the thing that hurt the worst about losing this game."
UC freshman Armein Kirkland also said he was disturbed that the Musketeers didn't shake hands.
When asked about Stokes' comments, XU senior David West said he and his teammates meant no disrespect toward UC, they were just too busy celebrating a big win.
Neither Chalmers nor Sato, both of whom attended the post-game press conference, spoke up to say that they had indeed shaken hands with UC players.
On Monday, Stokes clarified his comments, saying they stemmed from before the game, when the two teams lined up for the national anthem, then walked to mid-court to shake hands.
Several XU players, he said, headed directly for the locker room without shaking hands.
"I wasn't complaining about after the game," Stokes said. "It was a big win for them. They were celebrating like they were supposed to."
The Musketeers improved three spots and were ranked No. 13 in the new Associated Press poll, released Monday. Cincinnati, which received the 31st-most votes last week, was down to No. 41 with just 10 voting points.
Kentucky went to No. 12 from 18th in the men's poll. UC's women remained No. 25.
