Paul,

When you say the fuses are good, do you mean not blown?

The reason I ask is that I had a problem with my Radiator fans (and other items) not working when they should have been. Everything checked out fine, but still no working fans.

One late night with DMM and the wire diagrams in hand I began probing all the related wire connectors and rechecking the fuses. When all of a sudden the fans came on then went off again!

What I found is that a few of the fuses no longer fit in the socket tight anymore and when I wiggled them they would make contact and the fans would work. This also was the case with my rear A/C fan motor and the central locking system.

Possible Cause:

1. PO installation of aftermarket radio and cell Phone. Who ever installed this stuff used these little spade adapters that fits over the fuse spade. This springs the contact points out in the panel, and then when you remove them (to hook it up like it should have been), the fuse no longer fits tight and makes intermittent contact.

2. Bad/dirty ground points. As our cars age the wires and there contact point get corroded. This added resistance which causes the positive or plus side connectors to heat up in the fuse panel, which is made of plastic and we all know what could happen next.

Quick fix: Use the smallest nettle nose pliers you can find and shape the spades of the fuse in a "S" or " ~ " shape. This should be enough to make up the difference.

Long Term fix: Call the one of the Big 3 and see if they will sell you a replacement Fuse Block. They are in groups of five and can be removed and replaced.

Other possible causes to your problem:

1. One or more pins in a related connector(s) have backed out of the plug and are making intermittent contact.

2. Loose connection(s) or Plug(s)

Have you or the PO ever removed the center console?

After checking the fitting of the fuses, pull the carpeted wings and check all the plugs and wire in there.

That’s all I can think of for now maybe someone else can add to the possible causes and fixes.

Good luck!

Cheers
