Hello, I just purchased my first arabian, I have always owned quarter horses. However this little girl has a great dispostion and is learning very fast. My questions are, how old does an arabian mare need to be before you breed her? and She is the daughter or Aladdin has anyone ever heard of this stud and if so what do you know about him?

Hey,

Thanks Julia for writing me back. I would love to come and visit your horses...unfortunately I am stuck up here in North Dakota. Oh well, its nice to talk to people who are interested in arabians like myself, some people like arabians up here...but its pretty much quarter horse country up here.

Anyways thanks again.

Hey...I found your website again...my computer has been out of comission. So I finally checked back here...after not really remembering where I had been when looking for some arab stuff. I just love arabians....especially egyptian arabians...they are the most gorgeous animals I have ever seen...and I will have one in the next few years...if I have to work extra for it...so be it....

My first horse was an Arabian...I miss him dearly...I just miss horses in general I guess...unfortunately I have gotten very rusty with my riding...and I cannot keep a horse in my one bedroom apartment :( I have checked local stables....(only two here around Minot North Dakota) and I do not trust them totally....I even got a chance to come work with some of the horses at one.....and found it a bit problematic with the owner....so no place to keep one for now either. So if I cannot own one now....I will wait for the right time and the right place to have one....and since I cannot ride right now...I want to keep my memory and mind fresh on anything new that may come my way in the horse world...so I am reading up on all the literature I can and exploring different web-sites.

Sorry I am rambling....Ibn EL Tareef is just absolutly the most gorgeous horse I have ever seen, I wish I could come see him in person. It takes my breath away every time I see a photo of him...gorgeous absolutly stunning.

Well...I added this site to my favorites so I would not lose it again...sorry for rambling on.

Jammie

Amerigo was actually a gray. Depending on when you got pictures of him he looks like a bay or a gray. He was later owned by EMKAY Arabians, so if you can find advertisements for them in the magazines then usually they have a picture of Amerigo once he had grayed out. Mandi

Julia,

I read your posts on pyramidarabians and I want to thank you for your insightful comments. I have posted similar messages periodically for the past several years. Debates are healthy but please do not resort to name calling, insults, etc., because that is counterproductive and malicious. Perhaps "sucker" should read your views on this. Anyway, kudos to you, Julia.

Hello. I absolutely love Ibn El Tareef. Can I take him home with me ??? Well anyway. I love that you have put your horses entire pedigree for the public to see. I have been looking into bloodlines and this was fantastic. To actually see pictures of these old horses was great.

My dream is to raise Arabians. I now am going to breed straight Egyptian Arabians. I am hoping to go to the Epytian Event in Kentucky next year. I can't wait to see all those Egyptians. I will be drooling.

Well, have a good day.

Julia,

Didn't have time to go through the whole site until today. It's really great! I love the coloring of your filly Bint Mareekha. I have to admit that chestnuts with flaxen manes and tails with blazes are my favorites.
It was interesting looking at the pedigrees of your horses. They are similar to that of my dad's gelding, as he is an Egyptian. He is by Ansata Abu Nazeer (Ansata Ibn Halima x Ansata Bint Zaafarana) and out of Anchor Hill Hamla (Hadbah x Gamila). In most Egyptian pedigrees you will probably find a horse with the name Ansata somewhere in the pedigree. I tend to have horses that are mostly Crabbet but if I like the horse then it doesn't really matter what the pedigree of the horse is, especially if it has a good temperament.
Do you ever breed for color? If so what color?
I have met some people that hate certain color horses so that they make a point of trying not to bred their mares to stallion with certain coloring or that produce certain coloring. One guy I know hates chestnuts especially if they have white on them. He has made a point of selling off the chestnuts and only keeping the bays and greys. He ended up with a chestnut mare that was his best producer and after getting 2 foals out of her, sold her. His main riding horse is now one of those foals and he is a chesnut with a blaze and 3 stockings, his main broodmare is the other foal and she has a tendency to throw chestnut foals despite being a grey. Her foals (in my opinion) are far superior to the others foals being produced, even if they are usually chesnuts with white.
The color I like the least is grey. It's not even that I don't like the greys, it's just that they almost always appear to be dirty even after you have washed them 15 times for a show! Then if you leave them alone for 10 minutes you no longer have a clean horse. They are like dirt magnets! They do look really good once they are cleaned up but when they are dirty they are horrible. At least with chesnuts, bays, and blacks, they hide the dirt better.

What is the difference between SE and AK. I have an AK mare so I assumed she was SE. She is Genesis Lilyanne CAHR# 30331. My research using El Masri and Reinback shows she is AK BL and SO although BL and SO aren't in every line however AK is. Could you also tell me how I can get her AK status confirmed on her papers if possible?
I really like your website for pedigree research and pics, I purchased the Arabian Database last year and I am starting a book library this year. I have so much to learn.

Hi Julia and thank you for your answer ! I am looking for references on the following horses; as the list is long, any information would be welcome ! My horse's parents first : UP Ibn Galal Son,(born 1984, grey stallion, by Ibn Galal (Magdi) and Bint Wedad) and Amarah (born 1991, chestnut, by Ragheeb 1986 chestnut and Bint Doniazad 1979, grey); I am all right with Bint Doniazad, but completely lost on Ragheeb and his ancestry, Idrees (1981, chestnut stallion), Adeeb (1973, grey stallion). All I know is that Adeeb's parents are Shaarawi (1961, grey stallion) and Nawal (1968, bay mare). Again I found out about Shaarawi and Nawal's sire, Tuhotmos (1962, bay), but I couldn't even find who her dam was. Thank you very much for your help, I would be very happy to complete my horse's genealogical tree, it is very exciting ! One last thing about my horse, he is a grey gelding born in France in 1995 and his name is Shad Ibn Galal and he is the nicest horse in the world :-)))
Take care, I look forward to hearing from you.

Ileana

Hi Julia,
I would like to congratulate you for your website, it is truly the best I have seen on Egyptian horses. Thanks to you, I have found out the ancestry of my horse, which goes back a long long time and also I learned a lot about Egyptian bloodlines and seen a lot of very exciting old pictures. However, I haven't managed to find any information on my horse's parents or his mom's father, grand-father etc. They are registered in the German Stud Book of Arabian horses and are all descendants of Straight Arabians that can be found on your site. My horse was actually born in France and is registered in the French Stud book of Arabian horses, which makes things very complicated. Do you know where I can look for information please ? Thank you very much and all the best,

Ileana

Congratulations on your show. Julia, we need more people
like you, on the net, in the show ring, just interested in
the wonderful Arabian horse. I spent the recent ice storm,
24 hrs. without any electrical power, phone, t.v. etc.,
researching my mare's lineage. The best compliment I can
pay you, you remind me of the early Arabian breeders. They
imported these horses, established breeding farms, and
USED and RODE them. To me, the early breeders are as
fascinaating as the horses they imported. Talking about
Babson, Brown, Huntington, Harris, etc. Go for it.

What a lovely site for a lovely person. Julia, you are
really special. I read your imput on both this form and
the egyptian form and you are always positive, always
encourage all Arabian owners. Several months ago I asked
you for information, via e-mail, on Amenophsis, the sire
of my mare. Some say he is SE, some say he has only one
non-egyptian line through his dam Al Nahr Ardandi, that
through her paternal grandsire Ghadaf. You answered
immediately, stating he is SE. I only wished I lived near
to you to share all those wonderful books. Again, Thanks.
