There are numerous reasons...but I think most are obvious just looking at this board. 1. COI. We don't compete based on who we know and what vendors we would use. I like going to a pageant where we know no one and can win anyway. Much more fun when I am not epected to kiss anyone else's behind. 2. Adult, out of date hairstyles. Has anyone actually looked at these kids? If you took them out of the context of pageant they would look like freaks. Their hair is a foot high and two feet wide and sprayed stiff. What is appealing about that? It is grossly out of date. Heck, the soap stars always had the biggest of hair, even when REAL big wasn't the thing and from what I see at the check out on the grocery isle (we don't watch television in my home) even they are with the times...wearing sleek blunt styles or short trendy ones. Big hair went out a long time ago. Stiff hair looks really un- natural. Why strive for this? 3. Makeup. I don't mind putting a touch of makeup on my child for stage lighting purposes, but come on ladies...your kids look 4 times their age and sometimes not even real. BTW, if your child's face looks plastic in a photogenic pic what is the point? 4. Photogenic pics. Is it even moral to make up young children to look like full grown made up women? I definitely do not think so. I've seen some photogenic pics at the state level that were actually really GOOD photogenic pics. (Not these guru pics) and the child looked like a child. These supposed national level pictures are just plain sad. There is someone selling a blue gingham hat and top for photoshoots on ebay and they posted the child's photogenic shot. It's horrific. While that child almost resembles a child (unlike many) the face looks plastic and the expression forced. Come on ladies...don't you think your children are beuatiful unless they are made up like that? Why else would you do it? 5. Competition. Every normal person who knows anything about children KNOWS that competition is not healthy for young children. When you get sucked into the glitz pageants you get sucked into the "have to win" syndrome. My daughter does natural and middle road pageants and does extremely well. I never even use the word win with her. I want her to have fun....anything else is just bonus.

She won with her child, alot of them lost. I think it was bad to take that many to that director and then her child wins. Makes people think.

I bought a dress on line from a girl by the name of Amanda LaPere.. when i emailed her about the dress, i asked her if the dress doesn't fit when i receive it, will i be able to return it.. i was assured there would be no problem. So i sent her 650. for the dress and when it arrived it didn't fit my daughter so i emailed her that day, and told her i would be returning it the following day and it would arrive June 26th.. we'll it did ,and i couldn't reach her my email are my phone.. i left her several messages.. I was really upset we were suspose to do a pageant we had no dress and no money to purchase another one with.. we found another dress 2 days before we left to go to the pageant we had already paid for. She finally emailed me back the day before we left telling me she was out of town and when she got back on July the 10th she would pick up the dress from her post office and send me my money. we'll we got to the pageant and she was there.. so my daughter asked her about it.. after crowing.. she again assured us she would send us the money on the 10th.. we'll we got home and i was told by her post office she had not picked the dress up and they had try to deliver it three times and left three messages on her door.... so by this time i was really mad i emailed her and she emailed be back over a week later telling me her father had been sick and she would send my money!!! we'll we called her house this past tuesday and her mom had said she was at Gingerbread Nationals.. she was very rude and hung up on me.. but she didn't hang up all the way and i could her her talking to someone in there home telling them she had told a lie and Amanda hadn't left yet and how she knew i would just give up because it was to much trouble to sue them...... i couldn't believe this.. i was shocked!!!!! The dress has been at her post office since June 26 and now i was being hung up on!!! I'm really up set..I'm not quite sure the best way to handle people like this.. this is the very first time i've been burned.. i've always bought clothes over the internet!! I'd guess Amanda insisted on a money order that she cashed minutes after receiving it. The best way for this lady to get her money back is to keep this on the boards. I am applauding you for getting this out to everyone. Coaches are to be role models for our children. I would not want to send my child to anyone who commits fraud or thinks it is ok to steal. Just because she has done you right doesn't mean she has done others the same. That can be said about the "Boys" also. Alot of coaches out there are in it for the money and that is all not for the child and when the money runs a tad short they may bite at you. Not a bash just a open mind. I do that ALL THE TIME - I wouldn't have it any other way. But I get bashed like hell on this board for being a child basher and a b&&ch. Go figure. Anyways, we were at HY and some of the winners were good, but for the most part, I did not agree with them. I had the little girl who won our group picked to win. She was cute, and modeling didn't count. (Not pro am but beauty walk). But a LOT of the smaller ones I did not agree with at ALL! I don't know what they were looking for. Some of them just plain looked lost on the stage. The two boys they pulled for Supreme were odd as well. The little Cover Girl who got so much was a doll. But the Grand, sorry, nope. Cellulite. And the hair was atrocious. Burned out, over bleached, short curls that literally hung in her face the whole time. You couldn't see her eyes. Some of these kids are going to be for a urprise at nationals. I would order a video of last years national if I were considering going. I really felt like MM in the 2-3 should have gotten a Supreme and MJ (2-3) should have at the very least placed higher. The queen in that group was a doll baby. Haven't seen her before, but from what I hear she just had a photo shoot, so I guess Glitz pageants need to watch for her! Cutie pie! And the 4-6 was a glitz kid. And the 10-12 was a Glitz kid (SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE **GRAND**!!! ANYONE AGREE WITH ME ON THAT ONE??? CK YOU'LL KICK BUTT AT NATIONALS!!) The littlest baby queen was a cutie, too. Lots of personality.
