I'd really like to see player representatives back on the board. I think it's a travesty that these positions were allowed to lapse, and that the issue of "expense" has prevented them from being encouraged. I personally feel that a job description and a criteria for selection should be made for male and female player representatives, and that then, once they have applied, players should vote for them on the basis of their stated qualifications. (I don't necessarily mean university quals, I mean the qualities that they would bring to the job).

In my opinion, many players are not aware of the implications of some of the decisions made by the board or executive. They struggle to make a contribution to discussion because they have not had the experience of being in an administrative role, and they only notice the practical disadvantages of those same decisions when they are already installed. Player representatives are needed to actively promote understanding of the activities of the executive.

In the case of male and female players, it is absolutely imperative that the issues of discrimination are recognised and erased. The sport of Lacrosse has separate associations for Male and Female players- we are not so unlucky, but we should be careful to ensure that we are part of a process that recognises the differences of men and women in our sport and works to enhance the performance of both sexes, without disadvantaging one or the other.
